High, rising Lp(a) and CAC but low LDL
I seem to be falling between the cracks of NHS care. My LDL has never been a problem, but I have calcified arteries. Then, just six months ago I discovered I had significantly elevated LP(a). The nasty twin brother of LDL that likes to stick in your arteries. So I was prescribed 10 mg Ezetimibe

Having a STEMI in mid 40's...the search for underlying causes / answers for premature CHD.
Hi Everyone, My husband had a major STEMI in March 2023 with a full blockage of his circumflex artery. He was 44 years old and playing 5-a-side football in a local sports centre when he collapsed without warning. Thank goodness it happened there of all places however, as the swift actions of his team

Got another stent in 15 months - why and what should I do next. Anxious?
Hi, I am 61 year old living in San Francisco Bay Area and in Jan 2023, I got 4 stents (2 in LAD, 1 each in LCx and RCA). Had 50-60% blockage in distal RCA and D2 of LAD. Before the stents: LDL-C was in 70s, ApoB and LP(a) were never measured. A1C was 5.6, Blood pressure 130/80. Active - Biking 3

Atorvastatin diabetes
Hi, has anyone developed new onset diabetes or prediabetes on atorvastatin? If so how soon did it show up and did changing the statin help at all? Am already on ezetimibe. Seeing GP next week and not sure what I should be asking for. Any advice gratefully received.

Stopping PPI?
Hello everyone, I'm approaching a year post Nstemi with one stent and thus the end of ticagrelor hourray! What I am wondering is if I am then down to aspirin as the only blood thinner (plus ezetimibe and atorvastatin long term but hopefully not much longer on bisoprolol and ramipril ) do I still need

Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe
Greetings, Currently on 20mg of Rosuvastatin and discussing with my cardiologist about reducing the statin and adding ezetimibe to achieve my target LDL of 50 but with a lower dose of statin. I work out a lot and do get a lot of muscle spasms..etc. I'm not sure it's the statin, but if I can achieve

Haven’t posted here in a while. I don’t know how to ask my GP about starting a statin as a preventive or even if it’s right.
. So tomorrow I have a GP appointment in person I’m from the UK so this is rare😂. So I’m 22, man, quite overweight, don’t smoke, don’t drink. Known disease hypothyroidism which I know does increase Lp(a) level’s especially how high mines been. But anyhow I sufffer with symptoms that seem heart related

Anxiety is back as bad as ever
Hi all, not doing well at all lately regarding anxiety. I know the reason but that doesn’t help. I have recently been told that I’m pre diabetic and that I have CKD both thought to be due to heart meds. Then the other day, out of the blue, another call from surgery regarding cholesterol results. All

Went to Boots last week to pick up my prescription as was told that they had no Ezetimibe but she had been in touch with the warehouse and they should have them by the 28th of this month. Anyone else still having problems sourcing this tablet ?

High number of medications
I take 14 medications for heart failure, diabetes 2, GCA, High blood pressure, COPD and a CRT-D fitted. Yet I feel worn out and depressed. My legs are weak and losing muscle tone, my blood pressure crashes when I take my medication.I hardly go out now. Each department has this competition to change or

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started statins a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago. I started a 5 mg dose of simvastatin 15 months

Edoxaban and dreams and nightmares ...... Part 2
Been figuring the best way to write my thanks to you all for your comments on Part 1, so, tryin’ this. Whilst I have been reading your comments I have also been reading ‘The paper in the packet’ for each of the drugs that I originally referred to. It does seem as though each of these three DOAC's side

Becoming a grumpy old git !
Hi all, Just an enquiry .... one of my rare ones. It concerns a possible side effect of medication. In the last 6 months or so I have changed three precribed medication. I list these as below ....
Simvastatin
