Is it normal to have extreme dizziness after heart attack? I had 2 stents put in in January and take blood thinning medication as well as simvastatin.

Please go back to your GP to discuss your medication, check on side effect and it may be necessary to change your medication that can help you.

Are you on Ramipril?

This can make you dizzy, give you head rush, make you faint.

When are you dizzy? Standing up or getting up.

What is your pulse?

My heart beats at 40 to 45 per minute.

If I get up too fast I get head rush.

Its because I have risen to fast and my heart cant pump my blood to my head fast enough. Checking with the doctor he reduced the Ramipril. This stopped the passing out which occurred sometimes. I still get head rush. I have to try and get up slowly but sometimes I forget.

But as Bala says go back to the doctors. That's what they are there for.

No not Ramipril. I take Clopidogrel, Monomil, Asprin and Simvastatin. My pulse is opposite to yours. Can go up to over 100 if I am cooking or something or as low as 75 when i wake in the morning. The dizziness is mainly when I am standing up, walking around.

Hi Kdavid

I'm in a similar situation. Guessing you're on something to lower blood pressure too. In my case dizziness was caused by low blood pressure so they halved the dose which helped a lot. As bala said go to your doctor. Don't stop any of your tablets before seeing him tho.

Thanks for reply. Will be seeing my cardiologist next week - so hopefully he will have some kind of answer.

I still get a little dizzy depending on the amount of vodka i have :-)

I still have to take warferin, but i took myself off statins and ramapril againts the doc`s orders, but i`m fine. No ailments at all, its good for mr but may not work for everyone.

My cholesterol is 5.1 and BP 145 over 80 but every time i see the doctor (not often) he tries to get me back on them

i have dizzyness sometimes, but my problem is a narrowed vertebral artery

in my neck. not getting enough blood supply.

maybe ask your GP if this could be the problem. i had to have several tests

to find this out. and they dont operate to fix the narrowing, maybe it's an age thing.

good luck.

What tests were carried out? on the NHS?

Dizziness, do you experience this when you get up from a chair, from bed in the morning and dining table chair and also from a car?

The dizzy feelings only began after my heart attacks really - actually after they put the stents in it started about a month later. Tests show my blood has enough oxygen - but it seems not to be getting to my brain I think. I thought I had heart failure - but they said no to that. The GP seems very lax. After a blood test and an ecg he appears to have run out of ideas.

If you check the side effects of your blood thinner and your cholesterol meds you might see dizziness listed on one or both
