Cholesterol biosynthesis & Enzalutamide resistance
New study below. Looks like Simvastatin might prolong the effectiveness of Xtandi. Some will know that I favor the use of statins to shut off certain escape paths in therapies that involve the androgen receptor axis. In particular, I favor Simvastatin, but other statins that are also highly lipiphilic

High Cholesterol diagnosis
Had diagnosis of high cholesterol early 2017 and got referred to the Lipid Clinic at hospital. I have been told my LDL Cholesterol is at present 2 times what it should be. The doctor advised taking 10 mg Simvastin or Ezetimibe. I am currently refusing this, as I have heard so much bad stuff about statins

Simvastatin & Radioresistance.
New study below [1]. Years ago, when I had salvage radiation, I was not on Simvastatin, but I was by the time a lesion at L5 was treated. From the new paper: "These findings reveal that simvastatin may be a potent therapeutic agent for co-treatment with radiation to overcome radioresistance in PCa

Residential cardio rehab
Some of you may remember I posted way back in August last year when for no apparent reason my husband could no longer get up and down the stairs without his legs collapsing. He had suffered a road side cardiac arrest in July and was successfully resuscitated at the road side, spent time in ITU and came

Glucosamine - possible effects on lipid profiles

Statin use and survival in metastatic castration-resistant PCa treated with abiraterone or enzalutamide after docetaxel failure.
New study below [1]. I believe that in the U.S. more than half of men my age are using a statin. On the other hand, I sense antipathy towards statins among many who are not using them. Certainly, there are sites such as Mercola's that contain dire warnings. In my case, I had no interest in lowering

Statins and Abiraterone
Hi All I really am in a quandary. I’ve read conflicting reports on statins. For the last 6+ years I’ve been taking Abiraterone/Prednisone and Zoladex with remarkable results, given my dx. I’m now considering adding a statin to help with cholesterol increase, and the earlier post regarding Simvastatin
