Does anyone take Renagel (Sevelamer hydrochloride) and have any side effects?
I was on Calcichew for years and quite happy on it. The Doctor changed it as my phosphate levels were getting higher.

How we chose and adjusted to dialysis - it's not the end of the world!
Hi, My husband (D) is 70 and has end stage renal failure. As he is new to dialysis I thought I would share our experience of choosing and adjusting in case other people find it useful. As any decisions would affect both our lives we made them jointly with the help of EXCELLENT information and support

My Journey
I had a kidney transplant 10years ago, and am now well and fighting fit. My older sister donated a kidney to me after only having dialysis for 6weeks. I now enjoy working part time and playing golf at every opportunity. You never know what life is going to through at you, but how and what you make it

Help Dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia
Hello everyone, I have had sickle cell anemia my entire life. I used to go the hospital very often, but now I only go about twice a year to be admitted. I have; through research, asking around and other such things; found different ways to deal with the pain of my disease. To avoid pain: Wrap

Pre Dialysis Transplantation
A patient with a declining EGFR reading should be offered a number of choices regarding future treatment when renal replacement therapy becomes essential - however these choices should not only include the type and method of dialysis - but also the possibility of pre- dialysis transplant. A patient

A New Experience!
This is the beginning of a new community for kidney patients and those who care for kidney patients. We hope it will bring patients and professionals together in a unique community. There are actually three communities here for those interested in early-stage Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Dialysis

Problems with chronic kidney disease?
Hi Everyone, It's really great to have found this site, even though I'm across the ocean from most of you. My question is this: Last fall I had a kidney removed due to carcinoma, was very lucky as needed no further treatment. However, they just found out that I have stage 3 chronic kidney disease

APS is associated with transverse myelitis
Transverse myelitis or TM may be a clinical presentation of APS according to doctors, Hehdi, Uthman and Khamashta. One symptom associated with TM is neuromyelitis optica which causes eye pain. One can be tested for an antibody marker called NMO-igG. Personally, I am trying to distinguish symptoms of

A great source of information on treatment of Sickle Cell in the UK
Many of you are probably aware of NHS Choices as resource for information about Sickle Cell Disorders, but if you aren’t you can find a basic overview here: http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Sickle-cell-anaemia/Pages/Introduction.aspx . It provides an overview of the disorders, as well as going more in depth

I NEED HELP
It was a surprise to know that 15,000 babies are born yearly in ghana with sickle cell disease and 45,000 in Africa as a whole. Sickle cell disease cant be cured but can by avoided. This is when a person gets to know his or her status and choose the right partner. Here in Ghana, people dont check for

Off to hospital today for my check up.. hoping to find answers
Recently been having a lot of flare ups. I was diagnosed 5 years ago this year and gone through a cocktail of drugs. Since being off short term steroids the flare ups been more regular. Am now on quite a rare drug called Tacrolimus alongside Hydroxychloroquine. But does not seem to be doing the trick

Are any members with WG ANCA negative ?
i was diagnosed with WG 13 years ago and have always remained ANCA negative. My saddle nose deformity and nasal biopsy confirmed WG. I wondered how many other members are also ANCA negative. Because of this it can be difficult to monitor my condition. Thankfully Dr Jayne at Addenbrookes always listens
