Can a nondiabetic person have symptoms like a diabetic, especially showing above normal FBS ? What is pseudo-diabetic ?
For last 10-12 years, my PP BS level hovers around 150-160 without any medicine and FBS level shows around 125-130 level. I have a fairly restricted diet regime, take no sugar directly. My age is 58 years now and sex is male. After taking .5 gm Gluconorm tablet after dinner, FSB did not show much difference

I have IGA Nephropathy at stage 2 and i was asked by my doctor about my family history and i have found out that my mum had IGA Nephropathy
My mum has now got end stage renal failure and has dialysis three times a week. I was wondering if this was passed onto me or is it just a bit of poor luck. Alos as mum has end stage renal failure is there a chance that this could happen to me.

So annoyed!!
Recieved a copy of a letter sent to my gp today from my old rheumie. Apparently I missed my appointment with him (which I cancelled as I am under a new rheumie now). Anyhow the letter said my recent blood tests results (taken in August!) show that I am ANA positive 1:80 (nucleolar) but everything else

Has any female with AMN had kidney problems? I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure early this year. Came out of nowhere.
I am 65 and started having AMN symptoms in my early 40's. I was diagnosed in 1998 after my second one week visit to the Mayo, first visit was in 1991 with no diagnosis. Then the very long chain fatty acid link with AMN was discovered and that is how they finally discovered what I have when I went back

Thyroid Hormones Decrease Plasma 1a,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D Levels
Somewhat ironic that we see this very detailed explanation of why "active" vitamin D is low in HYPERthyroid people, while the most common story here is of HYPOthyroid people having low vitamin D! As so often, the work was done in mice. Be good to know if the same is true in humans. [i]Endocrinology

Are there any kidney transplant groups?
Does anyone know if there is any such thing as a transplant meeting group either in person or online where transplant patients who are maybe looking to find a partner can go? When I was on dialysis the thought of finding a partner was far from my mind, but now I have had a transplant I get the feeling

Big Brother (or is that Big Pharma?) strikes again
This morning I checked my supply of my winter standby of Echinacea, and decided it was time to buy some more. To my horror the price from my usual supplier has rocketed, so I checked other sites only to discover that the same high prices applied, and on none of the sites was it now called straightforward

kidney disease and diabetes
I've been insulin dependent for over 40 years and on dialysis coming up to 1 year. I have noticed that since starting dialysis my blood sugar levels are really difficult to control. It doesn't seem to take much to make my readings sky high and i'm taking more insulin than ever to try and keep things

Peritoneal Dialysis or Haemo?
Currently being "worked up" for living donor transplant from my brother but need to make a decision on dialysis as a back up. Am thinking of PD rather than Haemo. Can anyone tell me whether there is any discomfort when "carrying" the fluid in your peritoneum. Not sure how much fluid goes in but do you

Kidney Biopsy
I've had my kidney transplant for ten years now and have recently been having a few problems. To try and find out why I have to have a biopsy on Monday, can anyone tell me what it entails and if it hurts as i am worried :-(
