Sigmoidoscopy

I had various checks and tests, first in my 20s, including sigmoidoscopy and barium enema x-ray and more recently bowel transit time, colonoscopy and proctogram x-ray however none gave me any answers, although some relief that nothing was wrong.

I’ve had ultrasounds, blood tests, sigmoidoscopy but they all came back clear. I just wondered if anybody else had felt similar to me in the lead up to their laparoscopy.

In high school I had hemorrhoids and as a result they did a sigmoidoscopy, which found juvenile polyps and an anal fissure. I am now 37 and have had recurring periods of this intermittent bleeding.

I have had a recital examination but no piles or fissure was found so have now had a referral for a flexible sigmoidoscopy. I am only 18 and I’m really really scared.

Initially my test results showed cal protectin at 97 (would have tested further at 100+) and a normal sigmoidoscopy, sent to gynea and had ovarian cysts, monitored and then surgery found my abdominal wall had adhered to my intestines (2018), this gave no relief and gastro still only giving IBS as a diagnosis

The radiologist said on the balance of probability the sigmoid colon changes are from the diverticulitis, but can't rule out malignancy as it needs visualising with a sigmoidoscopy. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was meant to get a sigmoidoscopy but that has been delayed due to Covid.

After nearly 2 weeks of this and, at times, thinking that it would be a blessing to not wake up, I had a sigmoidoscopy and GVHD of the bowel was diagnosed. The C.difficle had gone and I was put on to steroids. The result was an overnight end to nearly 4 weeks of diarrhoea.

She had the results of my sigmoidoscopy biopsies which were clear so I was delighted. I had hoped to start weekly paclitaxel today. My ca125 has almost doubled to over 360 in the last 3 weeks but unfortunately Coronavirus has put pay to me having chemo in the foreseeable future.

In the last couple of months, I've been in hospital for a CT Colonoscopy, and a call back for a Sigmoidoscopy and more biopsies.

Hi, following up on my previous posts, I had my Endoscopy / Sigmoidoscopy on the 17th. Results came back pretty positive. I had a Polyp removed during the test. I have no Helicobactor Pylori, I am awaiting results of the biopsy of the Polyp, Inhave an internal Pile.

I’ve had sigmoidoscopy (clear) colonoscopy (clear) endoscopy (clear) calprotectin was also normal.. with only inflammation marker I have is raised ferritin.

I am having a flexible sigmoidoscopy today and have been given moviprep. I finish the 1st litre last night but I just can’t finish this last litre, I’ve had about half of it. I am running clear though so should I be okay?

In any case the sigmoidoscopy should show whether there's any sign of it. But it's frustrating to be told to be vigilant and then no-one else seems to be bothered. Sorry for rant! Hope you're all ok! Terry

So it’s now 3 months since my sigmoidoscopy and yesterday night I was experiencing a lot of flatulence and nausea all night. Woke up and had a bowel movement that wasn’t normal but wasn’t watery diarrhea. Had severe leg ache in both legs for 3 hours and couldn’t move.

Hi just wondering if anyone has experience sever abdominal pain that comes and goes after having sigmoidoscopy?

I had a sigmoidoscopy and because of the pain I was in during the procedure my gastroenterologist believes I have endometriosis. Was put on the contraceptive patch and for the past 3 weeks I was feeling fairly normal again, I felt like I had some control over my life again.

More tests followed, ct, mri, then a sigmoidoscopy which showed small white, grain like things attached where the inflammation was in my rectum! My specialist had never seen this before but all tests, blood, stool and numerous other tests have all come back as normal.
