Worried Newbie
In my teens I experienced largely constipation,my fecal calprotectin was raised at 189 and so I was sent to a gastro who did a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
and declared it was likely ibs-c. Skip forward a few years and I started experiencing awful joint pain and fatigue.

Can I request a capsule endoscopy instead of a colonoscopy?
I had a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
3 years ago which I found very painful so don't know if I can manage a colonoscopy. Despite normal bloods and stool tests 6 weeks ago I'm thinking of asking for a gastro referral because of my anxiety about my bowels.

Advice needed
Why would I need a
sigmoidoscopy
? Is this the start of my endometriosis journey? Has anyone else had problems like this?

Sudden colitis
I just had a
sigmoidoscopy
which showed colitis but the dr’s are still unsure whether this is IBD or due to an infection (Stool samples were negative for infection but calprotectin was >1800). I will be getting a colonoscopy and endoscopy this week.

positive FIT test
Went for an appointment in March at the hospital and they referred me to have a
sigmoidoscopy
and a EUA, whilst waiting for that referral the bleeding happened again so I called the doctor who gave me some FIT tests, I handed my samples in on the 3/8/22 and got a phone call on 5/8 to say it was positive

IV Steroids before Endoscopy/Colonoscopy
Hi all, After being an inpatient for 2.5 weeks with severe diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever I had a
sigmoidoscopy
yesterday which showed colitis. Dr’s are still unsure wether this is truly IBD or due to an infection.

Passing mucus with wind
Doctor said given my history and previous normal results (stools,
sigmoidoscopy
), its IBS again. However the same thing happened last night at 4am while farting in bed! Ive been having lots of gas/wind issues recently, under a lot of stress in work and at home, but this has frightened me again!

IBS-D, nausea and burping
So after a few bad flareups over the last few months, I had bloods and stool tests done again at the doctors a month or so ago, everything came back normal - like they did a few years ago, although I had a
sigmoidoscopy
back then as well.

Calprotectin level 2000
A month ago I had
sigmoidoscopy
which showed proctitis and small hermorrhoids. I'm still suffering with not being able to go to the toilet, bloated. A fair amount of blood if I try to go a toilet. If I go for a wee I will pass wind and sometimes drip or wipe blood from my bottom.

What should I do now?
I had a
sigmoidoscopy
just over a year ago and I was told it was clear. I've only just had a FIT test which came back as '7'. These are the only bowel related tests I have had. I've just come off the phone with my GP, they basically will do no more and will not refer me for a colonoscopy.

Bleeding and pain after colonoscopy and polypectomy
My GP referred me for a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
which found two polyps. I was then referred for a full colonoscopy and polypectomy. That took place two days ago. The procedure was difficult and protracted.

How likely is it to have normal Sigmoidoscopy yet undetected cancer on the right colon?
He sent it for biopsy as precaution but even though the
sigmoidoscopy
report said no sign of cancer I’m wondering how much of an alarm bell that polyp is. Could I have something sinister in the part of the colon the
sigmoidoscopy
didn’t look at whilst the left side getting the all clear?

Particular IBS symptoms
I've had all the tests since 2020 (endoscopy plus CT scan plus flexible
sigmoidoscopy
plus ultrasound) to rule out anything abnormal. I do notice that after I eat chocolates that the burning sensation can happen (though not always) but even without chocolates it can appear with other foods.

D DAY IS APPROACHING
As most of you know I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in early February, since then I have had numerous trips to to the hospital with CT scans and a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
. I am now being admitted on Wednesday morning to have an Operation, a sigmoid Colectomy or a bowel resection.

Starting to panic, any advice please
I took it upon myself to see a private Gastro Consultant, he felt my stomach and no lumps or pain when pressing at that time so suggested a
sigmoidoscopy
. I had this and was told all clear just internal haemorrhoids, which I assumed explained the occasional bleeding.

What are your symptoms/experiences with bowel endo?
Couple days ago I had a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
performed, but the doctors said they couldn't see anything abnormal and that the area they checked looked healthy and to go back to my GP. But it was so fast (less than 5-10 mins).

Waiting
I had a scan and
sigmoidoscopy
that found nothing. I did have uterine polyps that resulted in a hysterectomy but no cancer was found.
