Hi everyone, As an intro, I’m an Aussie who visited the UK last Christmas and caught the Aussie Flu. 10 months on I’m still recovering from pneumonia, pleuracy and now I’m apparently an asthmatic as well... Lactose in asthma inhalers
Having spent years on Seratide 250 I was told by the asthma nurse that Lambeth policy was to stop prescribing it and my medication was changed to DuoResp Spiromax 160. I had trouble adjusting and felt like my asthma was out of control, found this web site and started calming down. But I had kicked off

Change of inhaler
Can anyone tell me if there is any advantage to changing from 2 puffs Seretide 250 twice a day to DuoResp Spiromax one puff twice a day? I have successfully managed my asthma [I'm 66] but the asthma nurse tells me Seretide is being phased out. From all I've read it's a cost issue but I am worried I

Still coughing
I’ve been coughing since Christmas. I’m bringing up mucus that is sometimes colourful and thick, sometimes thin and colourless. My breathing sometimes makes a noise like crackly wheezy and my chest makes a noise when I move. I cough most at night but also during the day. I’ve been referred to a consultant

Seretide
Hi all, recently diagnosed with asthma and started seretide on Friday. Yesterday I felt very shaky - like my blood sugar was low and I felt wet tired . In the middle of the night I had leg cramps and today I keep getting cramps in my hands. Is this normal ? On the plus side my asthma feels much better

What should I ask my consultant?
18 months ago my asthma became much more stable after being switched to Symbicort SMART and Spiriva Respimat by the consultant I saw in addition to Montelukast. After seeing him a few times he was satisfied that things were stable and he discharged me back to the care of my gp. All went well and I had

Has anyone changed from Seretide 250 to Fostair 100/6?
I have just had my medication for my asthma changed from Seretide to Fostair as the nurse was concerned that long term use of Seretide at a high dose could lead to side effects in the future like diabetes. I’ve only been on Fostair for a couple of days but so far have experienced headaches, stomach ache

Do we have a right to choose inhaler?
When I was first diagnosed (COPD+Asthama) I was given seretide, I found it to be great, very quickly I was running upstairs again unfortunately I told the GP how happy I was with it and he said "well lets keep that for later then" and changed me to Indactorol. Well 7 years have passed and I have gone

Fvc is 79% and am 21 years old
I finally adhered to the advice that was given about my uncontrolled asthma. I did a lung function test and my fvc is 79% compared to when I did it 6 months ago when it was 77%. I am glad it improved but I heard that the normal result is 80% for healthy patients. The doctor said I had airflow obstruction

Braltus
Hi all, I have been referred to a specialist thankfully. I take theophylline and seretide and they have now introduced Braltus. Does anyone have experience with this or have tips on how best to use it? What's the best breathing technique?

Feeling better, but peek flow still low
Hi all, after many years of well controlled symptoms on seretide recently I had been really struggling with 2 hospital trips. My asthma nurse suggested swapping to fostair 100/6, but that I shouldn't need my ventolin anymore and I should go back to the GP if I still have symptoms after 5 days. I feel

Am I A severe Asthmatic?
Hello everybody, I have once heard it from medical experts that severe asthma is quite different from other forms of asthma and it's a bit difficult to treat. I developed asthma in my teenage years and it was very controlled as at then but when I clocked 18, it became a bit uncontrolled and seretide

Has anybody fond Formoterol Oxis etc to be better with less reflux or indigestion?
I'm trying to find a reliever that is less of a problem for reflux and wondered how if anyone has has found formoterol to be better? I have tried the combination Seretide, Ventolin and Serevent and they all give me really bad reflux. I'm on a PPI etc but it only makes it just about bearable.

Dr refuses me Ventolin
My GP refuses to give me Ventolin and Seretide due (as he puts is) to the CCG rules. I am allowed to take Salamol and Sirdupla as these are recommended by the CCG. However, Salamol is horrible, leaves a nasty taste, makes my throat sore and dry. GP still refuses me Ventolin. I now have to see the Asthma

Tried all inhalers ...
First post. My name is Kostas from Athens Greece and I am 44 years old. Was diagnosed with bronchial asthma 1.5 years ago, which probably was caused by allergic rinitis. In this last 1.5 year I was prescribed Fostair, Relvar and Simbicord, which all had the same terrible side effects on me. Anxiety,
