Confusing labwork. Central hypo?
Good morning, I am a 26 year old female, 5 feet and 160 lbs. I also have a congenital heart disease with severe mitral regurgitation. I've been overweight for most of my life- but have recently put on 20 lbs in 10 months. I've always eaten mindfully, avoiding sugar. I also have some of the classic hypo

How long do I keep supplementing?
I posted this a few days ago and would really appreciate some advice. I'm finally feeling really well, thanks largely to the forum and wonder how long I should continue supplementing. I have been reading Dr Brewers book 'The Essential Guide to Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements' and it looks like I'd

Vitamin D deficiency
Hi all! Full blood tests at end of post but starting with my questions! I am hypothyroid taking 100mcg of levothyroxine. As this thread has become really long I'm going to start a second about my other vitamins etc (will add link!) So I had a recent blood test which shows that my vitamin D is still deficient

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Lycopene - Tomatoes
"Lycopene is the pigment principally responsible for the characteristic deep-red color of ripe tomato fruits and tomato products." [2c] As of Aug 29, 2016, there are 434 PubMed hits for <prostate lycopene>. [1] This all started in 1995, with Giovannucci's first paper on the subject, so I'll review his

Tests for Vitamins and minerals
Does anybody know if a home finger prick tests exist in UK to monitor areas such as the Bs. E, folate. Ferritin, selenium, magnesium etc. They do ones separately from what I can find on internet but not a comprehensive one for all of them together. Gets a bit expensive otherwise.

Calcium supplements - a health warning.
New Scientist included a story this week of studies that have shown that supplementation with Calcium may not be a good idea if you're not clinically deficient. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2101858-calcium-dementia-link-is-reminder-of-the-dangers-of-supplements/ They also refer to a previous

I just got my results back from BH. I would appreciate if someone could help me make sense of them. I also requested my blood test results from my GP practice covering 2012 to 2016, I realised after readding them that some are missing so will trace the results for October 2015 (when I was feeling like

Has anyone had success increasing their iron levels? I've been trying for about a year now without success. The levels have moved from "15" to "42" even after supplementing with 400 mg (I think it's mg and not mcg) of iron supplements prescribed by my surgery (200 split into two doses). I take 75 mcg

Low cortisol, again.
I did saliva test same time than had my thyroid tested. Low again. My TSH was 2.51 (0.4-4) and T4 11 (10-21). Test I never got,but filed a complaint and hope for re-test. The thing is ,I dont understand what is going on. I had thyroid panel done on June 2016 and based on the results i was recommended
