Low cortisol, again.

I did saliva test same time than had my thyroid tested. Low again. My TSH was 2.51 (0.4-4) and T4 11 (10-21). Test I never got,but filed a complaint and hope for re-test.

The thing is ,I dont understand what is going on. I had thyroid panel done on June 2016 and based on the results i was recommended to have saliva test as My results indicated possibly high cortisol :

Thyroglobulin : 110.2 (3-40, but optimal 3-10)

TT4 2.5 (5-10.8)

T4 0.9 (0.7-2.5)

T3 2.5 (2.5-6.5)

TSH 1.5 (0.5-3.0)

Tpoab borderline need to retest.

Iodine 35 (100-300)

Selenium 65 (25-175 but 50-175 optimal)

Thyroid panel august 2015 ( supplemented iodine February to June/ selenium from feb til now)

Thyroglobulin 37 (3-40/optimal 3-10)

TT4 4.8 (5-10.8)

T4 1.2 (0.7-2.5)

T3 3.2 (2.5-6.5)

TSH 1.0 (0.5-3.0)

Tpoab 20 (0-150)

Iodine 34

Selenium 46

THYROID TEST different lab January 2015

Tsh 2.2 (0.3-4.5)

T4 17 (10-21)

T3 5.9 (3.5-6.5)

Thyroid panel and cortisol saliva test october 2014 (ZRT)

Dheas 7.2 (2-23) age depentend , normal for my age

Cortisol

Morning 7.7 (3.7-9.5)

Noon 2.4 (1.2-3.0)

Evening 1.3 (0.6-1.9)

Night 0.8 (0.4-1.0)

Thyroglobulin 130.4 (3-40/3-10)

TT4 6 ( 5.10.8)

T4 1.6 (0.7-2.5)

T3 3.0 (2.5-6.5)

TSH 1.8 (0.5-3.0)

Tpoab 29 (0-150)

Iodine 17

Selenium 32

CORTISOL SALIVA TEST MAY 2014 (medivere same as the one i used now)

Similar curve than in picture from recent test.

CORTISOL SALIVA TEST MAY 2013 (medivere)

Quite similar curve than ZRT 2015., slightly lower first sample but quite close to normal indicating just mild fatigue.

Things that bother me:

Its thyroglobulin not thyroglobulin antibodies. It is supposed to indicate iodine deficiency but using iodine lowered my TT4 and T4. Iodine only 24 hr urine so only tells about consumption of iodine during past few days. But if thyroglobulin is leaking no building material for t4 and t3. No cause for leaking found. High endo said its just protein and leaking is normal.

With NTIS low TT4 and as low as mine indicates death. Yay. So if it is NTIS will i die? (sarcastically) qnd what is causing my NTIS as i am not starving nor have any acute illnesses as far as i know. Told i am healthy as a horse. Poor horse.

Its not stress causing thyroid issues as cortisol is never high? Why every other saliva test is normal?

Had somewhat high mercury in urine tho it is not accurate test, had eaten loads of sea fish before the test which can be high in mercury. No one told me. I do have two amalgam fillings but no money to replace them. As if we had qualified dentist here anyways.

So. Out of money and ideas.

If it is chronic yersinia enterocolitica i don't have a chance to fix it. I know it is treated with herbal antibiotics but not tested in Finland.

Cant go self medicating' i learned yesterday that cant order meds w/o prescription to Finland.

Sigh.

Justina,

Supplementing iodine doesn't always result as expected, as can work either way by causing hyper symptoms & a possible autoimmune attack, but also by reducing the activity of enzyme thyroid peroxidase (TPO). TPO is required for proper thyroid hormone production so T4 levels would reduce..

When TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to make further thyroxine (T4), thyroglobulin can be released as a by-product. I don't think Tg should be used as a stand alone test & leakage is not normal. Thyroid inflammation (caused by autoimmune disease) causes follicular destruction and may result in leakage of Tg into the bloodstream and this can cause the body to make antibodies TGAb & TPOAb. Have you had thyroglobulin antibodies tested ? ? ...

Cortisol results are low but following the circadian pattern. Low cortisol can interfere with thyroid by decreasing TSH & lowering thyroid production, also inhibiting T4-T3 conversion.

Are you supporting your adrenals ? ? .. Adrenal function may be improved with optimal levels of nutrients and iron and lots of Vit C. Also adaptogens that help to normalise the HPA axis. I have only used Liquorice Root.

Diet is massive as low adrenal hormones may fail to raise blood glucose enough to meet the increased demand created by low thyroid hormone. Cells not receiving the glucose and other nutrients they require, will make you feel tired, shaky and crave sugar. Eat regular meals with low GI carbs, healthy fats and protein at every meal (even breakfast). Last year I snacked on milk shakes//smoothies mixed with pea or whey protein in between meals but now my blood sugars are balanced, I don't need snacks.

DHEA and cortisol are the body's long-acting stress hormones and are antagonistic to each other. Have you had DHEA tested ? ? An adequate levels is required for conversion to other sex hormones, testosterone// oestrogen, etc. Unbalances sex hormones will negatively impact thyroid hormones.

A stealth infection such as Yersinia enterocolitica will cause the autoimmunity to keep making antibodies all the while the infection is chronic..
