Tests for Vitamins and minerals

Does anybody know if a home finger prick tests exist in UK to monitor areas such as the Bs. E, folate. Ferritin, selenium, magnesium etc. They do ones separately from what I can find on internet but not a comprehensive one for all of them together. Gets a bit expensive otherwise.

Yes, check out Blue Horizon, they do lots of different types of tests including thyroid tests and there is a discount for thyroid uk members :-)

Thank you for replying but they don't do one I was particularly looking for - sore fingers from stabbing with miniature scalpels - made a real mess and had to try 3 pricks, half asleep, that will teach me to shake myself awake next time.

Blue Horizon - Thyroid plus eleven tests folate, ferritin, Vit D and B12 - £99

Magnesium - serum test apparently is always in range - not really worth testing. But Blue horizon do do a RBC magnesium test - more accurate. Many of us just supplement anyway without testing.

Don't know about selenium test.

Thank you for replying - I have just today done the blue horizon Thyroid Plus 11 by finger prick test plus active B12 but I saw a post from 7 months ago by another person on this forum with all the essentials in their tests and wondered if there were any available in UK - I believe she was on the continent. Will just have to keep popping the pills, I will be rattling soon!

I don't know of a finger prick test, but if you can get a venous blood sample taken then you might be interested in these :

No hope with venous route but thank you all the same - live on an island. Oh joy!

Blue Horizon do venous blood tests at Spire or BMI hospitals. They have numerous tests and packages.

The individual tests can work out very expensive so you need to work out whether having a particular test is worthwhile and will actually show you something useful. For example as already pointed out serum magnesium isn't worthwhile.

I suggest you compare and contrast with medichecks over the price.
