New diagnosis; itching not improving
A couple weeks ago my G.I. doctor was out of town, and I was so miserable the nurse practitioner started me on
rifampin
150 mg two times a day. I took that for five days without improvement and my G.I. doc took me off of it. Just wondering if it's like this for anybody else?

Does nicotinamide/niacinamide inhibit the human Sirt1 gene and cause cell aging?
I have been taking nicotinamide/niacinamide - a 'semi' vitamin (and amide form of) niacin/B3, for a long time without the herb resveratrol, as advised by anti-aging researchers and wanted to find out if niacinamide is safe as 'monotherapy' – ie, it does not promotehuman cellular aging. Researchers note

Is it safe to eat Grapefruit while taking certain medication?
Hi all. I absolutely love grapefruit but just looking some advice if grapefruit is safe to eat with certain medication as I've heard that it can work against them. I've been diagnosed with PBC & AIH and therefore have a mixture of tablets to take. My meds are Rifampicin, Prednisone, Omeprazole, Ursodeoxycholic

My consultant had just prescribed Azithromycin and Rifampicin Mon-Wed-Fri after clear tests and bloods following several months of bad infections. Anyone with any experience of these drugs please. Just hoping they will keep me well. Thanks and Happy Easter everyone. 💐💐💐🐇🐇🐇🥚🥚

Itching
I have been "itching" since 2014. I have slowly worked my way through GP recommendations and since January I am in the care of a specialist here in the UK. I started colestyramine last summer, naltrexone was added later but I could not tolerate it. I was given Rifampicin at 150mg twice a day. The

A theoretical way to make mannitol work better
The underlying problem with using mannitol as a therapy for Parkinson's disease is its poor absorption in the gut. Hence it produces gas and in some cases, diarrhea. If the absorption of mannitol can be increased than it may be taken at a lower dose and also decrease its associated side effects. Other

Anyone taking Rifampicin?
Hi everyone, I saw the specialist this afternoon, as an itcher not cured by cholestyramine I was prescribed Naltrexone which gave me some very unpleasant side effects. I now have a two month supply of Rifampicin which I understand is an anti biotic. I think anti biotics can destroy the good gut bacteria

The possible dangers of EGCG.
This posting is a followup raising issues about the combination of EGCG + Salmon oil + Vitamin C or quercetin/bromelain with levodopa as a substitute for Carbidopa/levodopa (EGCG....levodopa) or Entacapone + levodopa (quercetin + levodopa). The forth posting in the thread. https://healthunlocked.com
