Hello
Hi. So glad for this site. Newly diagnosed with a-fib, along with heart failure (diastolic). Walked into the emergency room here at local hospital Nov. 5th., thinking that I had a possible DVT because of on-going left leg swelling, after blood test and x-rays told I had a-fib which was the reason for

Lung Transplant appointment 28/11/23 Cancellled for the 2nd time due to Failure of Patient Transport
I was supposed to be having my lung transplant assessment today (28/11) at 2.45 but as before the NWAS didnt turn up. The manager at the Transplant section phoned & told me if I didnt come to the hospital they wouldn't see me. We had to explain we were waiting for the ambulance - he then cancelled the

Switching to home hemodialysis
I have been on peritoneal dialysis using a cycler, which has been wonderful, for two years. Unfortunately my clearance has been falling over the last four months and treatment increase in the amount of dextrose has caused me to gain nearly 30 lb. My clinic has me scheduled to begin training for home

Elevated creatinine from tacrolimus?
I am 19 months out from my kidney transplant from a deceased donor. Was doing well and my creatinine was actually within the normal range at about a year post transplant. However, since then my creatinine has been creeping up and now is 1.74. Have tried lowering my protein intake, and more hydration

'Malabsorption' - what do doctors mean exactly?
GI bleeding, menorraghia or blood donation, Chronic
Renal
Failure
etc.[/i] I look at 'malabsorption' and think errr....? What do doctors mean specifically by this? Do I have it?Probably, maybe, how do I know? Got to be ruled in or out, somehow. Thanks as always.

Advice regarding setting of expectations ahead of cardiology appointment would be appreciated.
AF since March 23. Currently only really experiencing breathlessness on inclines. No experience of HR over 100 (as far as I know). Devices confirm persistent AF since March. Echo revealed a few mild heart failure issues and recommended cardiology review, which is due in a couple of weeks. My question

Hi guys....a recent CT scan showed some pleural effusion but nothing else...no nodes, growths or nodules, and a blood test showed no heart failure.I have to have the fluid removed on Monday and I'm bricking it already. I don't make a very good patient; former nurse; and I'm a wuss when it comes to pain

10 Year Anniversary
A few weeks ago I realized this is the ten-year anniversary of when I started dialysis. I started in August of 2013 in the days after I had a knee surgery. I was 14 years old. I'm now 24 years old. In the time since I started dialysis I started and finished high school, started and finished college,

Overdosing bisoprolol- can anyone offer advice?
I don’t know whether it is where I live ( the NW) but I really struggle to get appropriate treatment. Anyway I picked up my meds on Saturday. Opened them in the car and noticed my bisoprolol was suddenly in 5 mg tablets not 2.5 mg. I went back into the pharmacy to be told that I have been on 5 mg tablets

update
not sure if you remember I was in and out of hospital a few times with undiagnosed bilateral pleural effusions. Well the next stage was to get some biopsy’s done to see if they can find out the cause but in clinic on Thursday I was told a meeting will be held on Tuesday to see if I now qualify for that

Hypo type episode while on Forxiga /Dapaglaflozin, waiting for pacemaker upgrade. Any experiences with this drug anyone?
I felt sweaty and shaky after skipping breakfast this morning, and looking at the leaflet for Dapaglaflozin, I see one of the side effects is to cause low blood sugar levels. It's a diabetes drug which has been found to help with Heart Failure patients. It makes you pee away blood sugar. So I ate some

hello everyone. I have posted relatively frequently, most recently because my weight loss surgery was cancelled due to high heart rate(120-130) in persistent af and breathlessness. The gp gave me additional bisoprolol which brought hr down to about 90. Breathlessness has continued, possibly due to

Shock diagnosis and 4 week wait for follow up at rapid-access Heart Failure clinic. Is my anxiety justified?
Two weeks ago I went for a stress echo test. It was a real shock that after a preliminary echo the test was abandoned. Serious faces and mutterings all round ensued, and a cardiologist came in, studied the screen and told me I had heart failure! She advised me not to go on my planned holiday till
