Still no symptoms
Hi Nearly a year since being told I had decompensated cirrhosis, sadly I've not been able to stop the drinking but have given up the opiates. Still doing my best to pack in the drink but it's hard. cold turkey for opiates is so easy compared to alcohol. I still want my drugs but I can tell myself no

One year on
Thought I’d give a little update on my ARLD journey. After 1 year of initial Fibroscan results which were CAP score 316 and 28.9 kpa elastography score, which shattered my world as it wasn’t expected. My latest results after abstaining from alcohol, which I may say has been oh-so difficult after

update on hubby 4
He continues to make slow improvements. Good days then bad days. He has been confused at times but that is improving slowly too. He is able to walk into the kitchen and bathroom using his walker. Eating small meals and generally more conversational. I saw my GP and he stated that my husband is still

osteopenia worse, im on enoxaparin/ lovenox any thoughts on vitk2?
I had repeat dexascan says my hips are getting worse, anyone on enoxaparin/lovenox taking vit k2 for “calcium to bone absorption”? Docs are talking about fosamex, etc, but I would rather do vitamins if possible. Not looking for medical advice but would like to know if others with APS are taking it

Liver Stent/Tips
Hi, I had a tips in May 2022, within 6 weeks it failed and I had urgent surgery to correct it in July 2022. I've been told my new TIPS is very big. Since then I have felt absolutely amazing. However, past week I've had a build up of ascities - not huge but enough to see my weight increase by 7lbs. I

Ggt of 110
Hello,The GP surgery phoned up yesterday just a day after I had an LTF. Apparently my GGT was 110 though the ATL only 29. Why would this be? I have cut back in the last six months (used to drink 25 units a week) but admit I did drink quite a bit of wine in December, Xmas etc. I also ate more sugars

spider nevi?
Had labs about a year ago and all was perfectly normal. I drank a bit heavily in the pandemic but have since slowed down and stoped completely this month. Anxiety is though the roof. No family history of liver issues, or pain or other symptoms to note of. Appreciate any advice, I’ll be seeing my doctor

Thought of the day - B12 paradox
Like many aspects of life that we're all trying to grapple with, good health comes from a very fine balance. There is no 'one way' to do things, but a sweet spot in the middle. And I believe it's the same with diet, in particular B12. B12 is a regulator of homocysteine. Low B12 is a driver for high

Should Alcohol Get a Worse Rap?
A bit out of the usual line of comment or 1uestion. Having never been a drinker ( can't stand the taste of it) I've always been bemused at what a big role alcohol plays in society. It's seen as a key aspects of most of life's big events, as well as being important as location of a social event, as a
