Another update - 8 weeks and counting
After obeying the GP who told me the cough was pharygeal and to take a cough suppressant and reduce the QVar (brown) inhaler, and that I did not have asthma, unsurprisingly things became worse. I then developed an ear infection but no surgery appointments available so saw out of hours GP - who told me

Still poorly after nearly seven weeks :( med side effects?
The cough suppressant helps a bit, but my main concern is that the whole of my respiratory system feels inflamed. I sound like I am full of cold and yet there is hardly any mucus. The cough is now mostly non-productive. I am so unbelievably tired and weak. I use a QVar inhaler - and the side-effects

I'm terrified
I just want to vent really. Had another very frustrating visit to my doctors office and talked about the ongoing chest pain I have had. There doesn't seem to be any urgency to investigate this and the nurse said it was probably anxiety and burshed me off with an ECG and appointment for spirometry. I

Bronchiectasis diagnosis
This is my first post. I was diagnosed with mild bronchiectasis earlier this year after years of being told I had asthma (which I'd never believed). I've also got 'small airways disease' and large lungs, neither of which have been explained to me. The only medication I have been given is Qvar, but it

What can cause lung obstruction?
I’ve never been a smoker. I’m not overweight. I had a cat scan done and everything looks ok. Pulmonologist can only guess my lung obstruction is due to my mild scoliosis but I went to a spine surgeon and he says it’s not possible since I barely have scoliosis. I also have asthma which on montelukast,

New Meds
Hello I had real problems with breathlessness, and my Consultant changed my meds to Qvar (twice a day) and Spiolto Respimat (Once a day) also Ventolin when needed. My breathlessness has improved but not as much as I hoped. My sats were 89-90 before, and now at rest can be 96 but as soon as I start moving

zafirlukast and montelukast
Hi all, I have just stopped zafirlukast as this has been discontinued and put back onto montelukast which doesnt do great things for me. Is anyone else in the same situation and been switched to something completely different. I’m really annoyed as this has controlled my allergic asthma so well over

Getting around faulty inhaler.
I use a Qvar Easi-breathe but this is the second faulty one I've had. So to get around the problem of it not delivering when I suck, I just take the top off and press as you do when testing it. I do this when it's in my mouth though and I suck at the same time. Is this the same method as a different

Qvar Easi-breathe problems
I have recently been prescribed with a Qvar Easi-breathe inhaler. However, sometimes it does not deliver a dose and I have to take the top off to check it is still active. After I've done that it usually works. I am quite alarmed that such a thing doesn't always work properly. It could have really bad

Tight chest but normal PF
Hi guys, I had a flare up about 2 months back and after a tough couple of weeks when I moved from Qvar to Fostair it helped me get things back under control. Not totally back to normal but certainly back on track. Over the last day or two, however my chest has felt pretty tight in the mornings and evening

Trimbow
Having been prescribed Qvar at an emergency doctor's appointment we found when visiting the resp nurse that it's not certified for COPD... I did notice the blurb stating it was an asthma drug but who am I to argue with the medics? At least it seemed to be beneficial. However we've now started on Trimbow

Hyperthyroidism and asthma
Anyone have hyperthyroidism and asthma? I’ve had hyperthyroidism but pretty normal with medication for years and suddenly this year had acute asthma attack and couldn’t breathe. I think I either got it from exposure to mold, a stomach virus or maybe hyperthyroidism. Anyway I’m on qvar and spiriva but

Too much medicine?
I have been taking singular, symbicort, xyzal, pro air and allergy injections for my allergies and asthma for several years. I am for the most part pretty well controlled. I have been in a flare-up or something for about two weeks now tho. In addition to these meds, I have had to use my nebulizer

Feeling frustrated
Just been to an out of office dr and they think they simply know everything! Been coughing all day/ chest feeling rubbish. Then I had chest tightness / breathing fast and painful , slight wheeze. And went to out of office & dr completely disagrees with my consultant opinion on treatment. Spends ages

any suggestions?
Hi everyone Just looking for suggestions regarding my asthma as feel like I've hit a dead end - I'm a lifelong allergic asthmatic but has got gradually worse in the last 10 years. Currently taking Seretide 250 (tried Fostair and Symbricourt without success) then had Qvar added on as an extra steroid

Hi everyone could I ask if anyone know about spirometry testing. I am newly asthmatic on Brown qvar 100 and salbutamol. Period of being ill x 3 viruses and several hospital attendances ended up having steroid tabs, several misdiagnoses including costochronditis and anxiety and a change of gp!! I didn't

Preventative medication
I have a 15 yr old son who has a lung condition plus asthma. We can’t seem to get his asthma under control at all. He reacts to weather change especially rain. He has tried Advair HFA, Flovent, and Qvar. He is currently on Advair diskus. Can anyone help make a suggestion that I could present to his Pulminary

Vertigo with inhalers
Hi, I have adult onset asthma. Last 3 yrs have been hell trying to breathe and keep out of hospital. I tried qvar and then symbicort. Both made me extremely dizzy with vertigo that was not tolerable. Something in these inhalers is triggering a response. Im now only using nebulized albuterol after exp
