Major surgery and cough problems
I'm soon to have open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve (born with defect). I still get a cough from my small airways disease/type of asthma, which is tons, tons better through using Qvar, but I still cough a few times everyday. I'm concerned about the imapct of this cough postoperatively as my

What a year this has been. Considering that 13 is my lucky number!! I thought am I in denial? Always faced things faced on but struggling right now. To be honest, been struggling since first post and that's what makes me think am I getting it wrong. Diagnosed July 2013 with COPD after spirometry

What combined inhalers work for you - if you have a heart problem/arythmia
Hello I had another chest infection in July (during the hot weather) - it flared my asthma up really badly so was on my first course of steroids for 7 days (had awful side effects coming off them as just stopped the 40mg a day no tapering) and in hospital twice, anyway my consultant gave me a new inhaler

COPD
Hello this is my first post even though I have been looking at this site for a few months and thinking how brave you all are. I have had asthma for a lot of years and its always been very well controlled, my meds were Qvar and Salamol. About 14 months ago I noticed that I was more breathless doing things

Asthma and chronic insomnia
I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice. I have been asthmatic since I was two or three years old but until this week, I haven't had a flare up since before I was a teenager (I'm 27 tomorrow) so I haven't taken any medications until now. On Monday, my neighbour was cutting my grass for

Deet and asthma
I react very badly to insect bites so I have to put on Deet if I go outside in our garden. Whilst it is obvious that the smell could make anyone cough, I am wondering how much it contributes to my lung problem in the summer and am wondering if anyone knows if Deet can set off an asthma attack ? Stepping down
I wrote last week that a CT scan of my lungs showed that the inflammation and air trapping had much improved since being on Qvar and that the consultant said I should halve my dose of Qvar 100 from two puffs twice a day to one puff twice a day. I'm now getting more coughing but I don't know whether that's

Good results
I had a follow up CT scan of my lungs the other week and saw my respiratory consultant today re my small airways disease/type of asthma/CV asthma. The results of the scan show that my lungs are much improved with much less air trapping. I'm also coughing much less frequently and very much less forcefully

Migraine cause?
It's almost midnight and I have just 'come around' from having the mother of all migraines. Of course, the first thing I do is go on this forum to see what has been happening!!!!!! Today's migraine is the first one I have had for a few years. I did, years ago, have them fairly often. My trigger

Am I tempting fate?
Today has been a good day for me. Perhaps I am tempting fate being happy about it. I went to the Doctors' Surgery today and was given a new medicine - a 'Qvar Easi-Breathe' inhaler which I have already used and I am breathing more easily!!! My son, David, telephoned me to say that he had an interview

Feline asthma
I was diagnosed with small airways disease, a type of asthma, last December and I've been on Qvar 100 for that since which seems to help. I've not found much information about small airways disease on the net except it says it happens with COPD (I don't have that) and industrial pollutants like asbestos

Dry mouth issues
I have been getting an increasingly dry mouth since using Qvar 100 - I use a spacer, rinse my mouth out thoroughly and brush my teeth after using it. I have two actuations twice a day. My GP has prescribed me ""synthetic saliva"" and it is a product called Glandosane which I spray into my mouth as often

Confused about different strengths of Asthma Medications?!!
Hiya, Really random post!! I have been suspected of having asthma for years, and have had a blue reliever inhaler for when necessary, which has usually been when its cold, when I'm ill or during hayfever times - most of the year then :-/ Anyway since September I have had constant chest infections,
