After three cancellations, the Lung Volume Reduction Surgery (valves) finally happened on Friday
Hi y'all. Well, I'm safely back home, necking biotics and prednisolone after Friday's little op. I assume you can click on my username to see the history but it's been a black January, one op after another cancelled at the last moment because of bed shortages. Got a hospital call last Tuesday, asking

Phlebitis
Hi all. Around this time last year I got a dvt in my thigh/ groin and wear my compression stocking religiously. Recently my "good leg" as I call it has been sore, red and tender to touch. I went to my gp today who diagnosed Phlebitis and I'm now being advised to wear a stocking on that leg as well

Is it normal just to be released as quick as that?
I developed A Pulmonary Embolism back in March, only months after having my son (I'm 32), and was rushed to hospital, put on warfarin and kept in for nearly two weeks, I was taken off warfarin back in November despite not having any further scans to see if the clots had dissolved. Then last week I was

Well saw the surgeon today re my gall stones for which i was admitted into hospital last month. Thought I was seeing him to discuss the removal of my gall bladder, but no, told me that I was suffering with severe emphysema and that the damage was done, and that although I had problems with my gall stones

What support services/groups are there in the Glasgow/Inverclyde Area?
I was diagnosed as having IPD in December. Still awaiting my first Pulmonary Function Test (series of blunders between Consultant & secretary I suspect). Now getting twitchy as I need this test to form a baseline. Also not getting palliative care advice. Docs are lovely - just not pro-active.

Is there any alternatives to Tiotropium capsules inhalers
I wonder if there are any alternatives to Tiotropium inhalers as there is a shortage in my area. My Dr tried me on a Seabri inhaler but it made me shake too much. He said there were no others but my specialist at hospital said that there were but it was a matter of cost. Does anyone know if this is

Can't metabolize Coumadin (Warfarin). Anyone else have this same issue?
While on Coumadin at a fairly high INR level I got a huge clot in my abdomen. I was told that I don't metabolize Coumadin (Warfarin). I am now taking an Imitrex injection daily to thin my blood. Problem is my injections were donated to me by the company and I only have about 1 1/2 months left. I

Warfarin vs Heparin/Fragmin 10,000 units
Hi Everyone, Really hoping someone can help. I was started on Fragmin for a trial to see if symptoms improved. They have, I would say around 30 percent but was hoping for more. In the 4 weeks that I have been taking it, I have had 2 pretty bad headaches and that was the one thing I thought would definitely

Starting heparin and warfarin tomorrow - what can I expect?
After a stroke 8 years ago and several years of feeling increasingly I'll I've finally had SLE with secondary APS and Reynaulds confirmed. Bloods done in June and repeated in September showed increasing evidence. Finally got to see a haematologist last Friday (still waiting for appt at St Thomas') and
