Sister in hospital with postpartum psychosis
Hello all I am new here, and this dreadful illness which took my sister away is new to me too. My sister is in hospital as we speak. She spent 2weeks there now. She has 4 children and doesn't have any mental health history. Her 4. pregnancy was unplanned and she (so we think) concealed it, she didn't

Denied life insurance!
I had Puerperal
Psychosis
after the birth of my son at the end of November 2013. I'm feeling outraged this evening as I have been denied life insurance because I had PP!! The insurance company didn't even contact my GP!

Has anyone had to have a psychiatrist report done for a personal injury claim
I did not have a mental health illness it was an untreated blood pressure problem which by the way can cause
psychosis
if not treated. Anyway due to my awful experience with Pyschiatrists I did not want to go to this meeting .

I had mania and psychosis a year ago. Now I'm depressed.
I just wish I could start over or at least go back to my episode of
psychosis
and stop it from happening. The reality of life is that there is no meaning other than what we give it.

My story 2 years on
My son has just turned 2 which means another, less enjoyable, anniversary is looming. To mark it I thought I'd share my story, such as it is so far. I've always wanted to be a mum, it's the one thing I've ever been completely sure about when it comes to life plans and ambition. I had a good pregnancy

How long until you were off medications all together?
I'm feeling much better, no
psychosis
, no depression, I'm no longer on anti psychotics, my anxiety is under control via self help techniques and sertraline, and I feel myself again.

I'm wondering how doctors etc can differentiate between after effects of pp & post natal depression?
I'm currently recovering from my 2nd episode of pp & am worried I may now be experiencing pnd as struggling with low mood & anxiety. After my previous episode I had cbt over the phone for anxiety being home alone with my son but not much depression.

How has PP changed you? Reflecting on strengths and vulnerabilities
Been thinking about this quite a lot recently as I face a new season of recovery in my own life after a relapse of depression. I began my PP recovery journey 8 years ago with a sense of huge relief, and renewed confidence in my own strength; if I could make it through that then I could make it through

Would you like 1 to 1 emails with a volunteer who has recovered from PP?
* The PPTalk one-to-one email service is for those with personal experience of Postpartum
Psychosis
, their partners or family members. (For those who have been diagnosed with PP, this service is most suitable once you have been discharged from hospital and are on the path to recovery.

How supportive was your partner during PP?
I know my partner has been very supportive, main carer of 3 children during the
psychosis
, and whilst I had time away. Also since I'm on quetiapine, hes had to get up with baby in the night and get up with the older children in morning every day until the sedation wears off.

Will I ever love my children again?
I was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with postpartum
psychosis
, have been on medication just as long, I now feel my partner makes a better caregiver than I ever could, people on the mental health crisis team seem to think I'm getting and suggest me getting a job?
