Alarming episode
Am on Gabapentin 400mg which works only 50%; also suffer from insomnia independently of RLS. . My doc prescribes me occasional Zolpidem when she takes pity on me and the odd Zolpiclone. Last night exhausted after 3 sleepless nights I thought I would treat myself to a Zolpiclone - last one in packet

Your DNA affects your drug choices
interesting article on the BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-60903839 This follows other research that looks at neuroimaging and may be able to predict groups of people that a drug may not work in or conversely identify when it is more likely to work. But this article is very interesting not least

This excellent article by Tania Smith (Thyroid.ca) describes the dangers and outcomes of taking in too much iodine. An article to be read and understood by anyone taking iodine direct.

Radioactive iodine versus surgery.
What are your experiences of Radioactive Iodine or surgery for Graves’ disease. I am trying to decide which one to have.

Iodine Testing
Hi Can anyone recommend an Iodine test? I have read that a 24 hour loading test is the best and to also test for Bromide and Flouride as they can block absorption but I'm not sure where to get this done. Many thanks!

Sore neck, hard to swallow..
Anyone ever have a sore neck, difficulty swallowing when adjusting levothyroxine dose? I've had RAI 20+ years ago. But since I've needed such a random dose adjustment after sudden overmedication. My neck where my gland would be has become sore. Hard to swallow but when you push on it, it's sore. Just

Low dose opioids & side effects
Hi, I am new to this forum. I am in Australia. I have suffered from RLS for many years. I was on a DA for about 10 years, but eventually came up against Augmentation. Weaned off as I was on a high dose. Dreadful period. Anyway, have been tried on every trick in the book. Iron infusion, Gabapentin (did

Graves and Covid and Surgery > RAI?
I had a graves relapse in Jan 2021 following covid. I followed the reducing course of carbimazole until my thyroid was back to a normal range and now I’m on 5mg per day for maintenance. RAI has been recommended. However… I’ve just had covid again and almost instantly graves symptoms have returned. Has

Anyone else having to take repeated time off due to pain?
I haven't been officially diagnosed my gp strongly suspects that I have Endo. First symptoms back in 2019 left pelvic pain, pain during sex, pain when trying to stand, felt like something was being torn inside when coughing or sneezing and painful contraction like pain when needing a bowel movement.

Steroid injections for back pain.
I have osteoporosis following a crack in my right femur which was not set or pinned in 2015 when I had an accident. The right leg deviated out to the right. Over 18 months to 2 years I had 3 steroid injections into my spine. No one told me about risks. Last November I had my leg straightened. This

Iodized or non iodized salt in hypothyroid ?
Which one should we use? In USA we get enough iodine from our food. Recently I saw a non-iodized Salt and purchased it thinking that people with thyroid should avoid iodine. Your thoughts please!

How to reverse high antibodies?
Hi, I an unsure whether I can share my experience and what I am allowed to say. However, I went to a naturopath for 8 month and my antibodies went through the roof under his care. I had Hashi antibodies but only 50 before I started this journey. I am trying to get an appointment with a qualified endocrinologist

Ear Infection
Evening all, after suffering from a sore throat and blocked nose I developed an ear infection, the walk-in centre GP prescribed me Amoxicillin and I requested codeine from my own GP due to the pain I was suffering. After visiting my own GP after a few days with still the same pain he further prescribed

Laparoscopy next week, scared they wont find endo
So after a particularly nasty flare up - where they could find no reason for it at the hospital, I bit the bullet and have paid to go private. Must say what a experience from the NHS. I am in no way criticizing the NHS, I work as a nurse myself and no how tricky it is with the endless back log! Got

Hi All, Normal caveat ( we are all different) but pleased to say that 5 days in, taking as advised by GP 100mcg Levothyroxine, no adverse effect. I perhaps should also say that being desperate trying to get some relief from the nightly torture I restarted Pregabalin 6 weeks ago having a stockpile
