Is pioglitazone still prescribed?
Is pioglitazone still prescribed by doctors? I found it very effective but stopped due to controversy. My Dr has again prescribed 7.5 mg. Anyone taking it?

Pregnant, RA and headaches
Afternoon all. I am 16 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with RA approx. 4 weeks ago. I have been given Hydroxychloroquine and Sulfasalazine (4 Tablets a day) which I have been taking for approx. 3.5 weeks. I was feeling fine on them until last week and now I seem to get chronic headaches and neck pain

High BMI ladies... help! What treatment have you had and which clinics did you use?
My consultant has started to refuse to help; my BMI is over 35 and no matter what I try, it just won’t drop. I’ve had reactions to metformin and even though I was ill for 3+ weeks my weight didn’t drop by much! I need to find somewhere that will give us a chance... it’s desperation time. I feel so low

METFORMIN
The latest MS research shows positive results from Metformin and alternate days fasting. However, I am sure I’ve read somewhere that it can worsen RLS. It’s used for type 2 diabetes but repurposing the drug for MS has shown encouraging results. I definitely wouldn’t take it if it worsens RLS. Does anyone

Finally, My First Dietician Consultation Yesterday!
As another newbie to CKD diagnosis and to this group, Sassymom, our stories are very similar but from a great deal of reading, unfortunately not that uncommon. A large, unexplained weight loss led to my PCP's ordering an ultra sound which reported: "suggestion of renal disease". My request to PCP for

I haven't posted for a long time but feel desperate.
I was diagnosed with GCA (Temporal Arteritis) in February 2017 and have been on a see-saw of medications ever since. I have a wonderfully supportive GP and see a rheumatology consultant regularly, every few months. I was started initially on 60 mgs prednisolone by the hospital and then the doses have

Fertility Advice!
Hello! I just wanted to reach out and ask for a bit of advice. I’m 27 and started my periods when I was 12. Throughout my teenage years, my periods were extremely irregular and I really suffered with weight gain and bad skin. I was on the pill but when I was 17, I went to my GP and asked to be tested

Metformin. When do you start this before a FET?
I have yet failed a FET. I have slightly polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome and I'm overweight. My Dr has suggested I could go on it for my next FET. Does anyone know when this would start? I don't need to do another retrieval just yet only FETs... How long do you stay on metformin?

Forum newbie looking for help
Good evening all, I’ve been lurking for a while and have finally got my numbers from my endo and wondered if you wouldn’t mind helping me make sense of them please? I saw my endo today and she said I have to have further tests into low cortisol levels - what could that mean? I was on 225mcg of Levo

Thumb pain
Thanks for the insight on hand pain. Have been on metformin since June. Was increased to 2000 mgrams a day. After 10 days back began to hurt severely. Cut back to 1000 a day. The back pain eased off. About 2 weeks ago my thumbs have developed quite a bit of pain. Was taking magnesium and potassium supplements

Metformin and early stage cll
Hi I just got diagnosed with cll and am at watch and wait stage - white blood count just come down from 40000 to 26000. Anyone any idea if metformin is helpful at this stage as a Dr friend mentioned it but as I'm in the UK the NHS (state) doctors don't believe in more unusual ways forward. Thank you!

Use of Rx drugs and botanical compounds to prevent chemo drug-resistance with Docetaxel.
Docetaxel is a common therapuetic used in advanced prostate cancers. There are some combinations you can ask your doctor about that will definitely and safely maximize its effects. Obviously we all all heard of radiation resistance but there is also such a thing as chemo drug-resistance. Countless research

PTEN and Mtor
I have read that PTEN loss inhibits AKT and mTOR which allows tumors to grow. Foundation One says that is you have PTEN loss you should consider Everolimus, and Temsirolimus because they are mTOR inhibitors. I put together last night that Metformin is now known to be a mTOR inhibitor "Metformin activates
