First time on dialysis
Look for his posts if you want to learn about
peritoneal
dialysis
. As I promised, I am going to document my journey as I have done before. Now it is hemodialysis. Holy mackerel. Anyone who thinks this is easy, let them sit in the chair for a turn and see what they think.

Question about dialysis
I’d like to know why you chose the type of
dialysis
that you did, Hemodialysis (Home or clinic) or
peritoneal
? Any insights would be appreciated.

Overwhelming Fatigue
I have been on hemodialysis then
peritoneal
dialysis
and back to hemodialysis over the past five years. I felt great for the two years on peritoneal. Was able to work and go about my daily routine.

Insurance and transplant woes
I have two things yet to do to get back active on the list after being in the hospital for 2 months last fall. One is a discussion with the transplant nephrologist which since I live 3 hours away they said I could do as a telehealth. That was set up today after dialysis but before it started they

ANCA vasculitis & kidneys
Recently I developed red rashes (purpura) on my legs/thigh. Examined by a dermatogist as skin vasculitis I treated it with prescription meds and ointment. The rashes are now all gone in a week. But I recently learned that such a red rash "may" indicate ANCA vascultis in the glomeruli as a possible cause

Allergic to dialysis tape?
Is anyone else here allergic to, or irritated by, the paper tape that the dialysis lab technicians place on your arm during treatment? I get terrible red, itchy, painful, crusty rashes on the part of my arm where the tape adheres to. The clinic says they will try to special order silk tape for

Over 65? Newly low eGFR?
In the three years I've participated here I see many posts from new folks that do not include their age. Those of us with diagnosed CKD pipe up and offer suggestions for diet, labs, readings and more. All the advice can help to calm or scare new folks. We often fail to ask a simple question though,

Paying for Dialysis
When you get the news that you have CKD money may not be the first thing that you think of but it should be the second thing as paying for treatment can be more of a life disruption than the treatment it self. I didn’t look into programs that assist you with the out of pocket expenses early enough

Numbers higher
I stopped eating sweets, and it has helped me improve my Stage # 3 to Stage 2. Now, I want to get to Stage 1, and then I will have no kidney issues at all. I believe Everything is Possible with a Lifestyle change. I decided that I didn't choose to be on dialysis and knew if I didn't change what I

Question about dialysis
I was hoping someone could tell me how do they do dialysis if you don’t have good veins. Mine are so tiny even blood draws are difficult let alone a iv started. I’ve had major abdominal surgery three times so a lot of scar tissue and mesh . Hopefully I never need it but in the back of my mind I always
