Asthma attack, hyperventilation - 17 year old !HELP!
Hello, I’m 17 years old and recently I’ve been struggling with my asthma. Within the space of 3 weeks I have had 2 asthma attacks, one resulting in a ambulance and the other a trip to a&e. The first asthma attack developed throughout the day, I had been taking my blue inhaler however it didn’t relive

Could I have Lung Cancer?
Hey Guys, Newbie here. Feeling alarmed at the moment as I have had a chest x-ray showing shadow on the apex of the right lung, in position this corresponds to pain I have in upper chest and upper back. Been asthmatic for over 10 years, medication increasingly ineffective in recent years and put on

Loved the idea of colour coding my peak flow monitor, easy to read: so got inspired - as I was rewriting my asthma plan for folder and hated the pic, and thought, I wanted positivity when I need to refer to it, so I cut out some favourite pictures (I sail & love the sea), and glued them on. Now I feel

Quick question re: personal best PFM reading
Good morning! Just a quick (& hopefully easy!) question..... when you say your “personal best” in terms of peak flow readings, does that include after reliever pump? For example (& I am only new to asthma) my peak flow readings range from 280 to 350 over the last 4 weeks, but after ventolin I’ve read

Seretide Sereflo differences?????
Hi All, I'm 65 and was on Seretide for a long time, this was changed to Sereflo a few months ago. I seem to have a constant tickle/irritation since being on the Sereflo. I have always been able to get a good peak flow score and still do which does not help me being taken seriously, my asthma nurse tells

Feeling frustrated
I just received a condescending letter from my consultant. I had a blood allergy test come back as normal. Already had one so was expecting this. But i know i have allergies, the sneezing, coughing and watery eyes tells me so! I also had lung function tests. Which came back as normal. This confuses me

Newly diagnosed, 42 year old confused!
Hi! First post so please be gentle! I am a 42 yr old female (5'2"), and was diagnosed with asthma last month after a bout of a nasty cold which wouldn't shift from my chest. I run a lot (30 miles a week plus) and seem to be particularly bad for a few days following a long run (in fact my diagnosis came

At what point do you usually take oral steroids?
Adult onset asthma 4 years ago. Viruses, cold air, sometimes exercise, some chemicals and smoke. To be honest I’ve always been faintly like this, it just got significantly worse after my first pregnancy. No allergies though some chemicals seem to sometimes make me cough if I’m a bit inflamed. Never

What treatments or tests from here?
So I am 40 and since having my second child in September I have had 3 exacerbations (also 1 bad one in pregnancy). I was sent to ambulatory care today as I am on day 10 taking 40mg pred a day, and still acutely ill. I was on Fostair 200/6 and am now trialling Seretide 50/500 to see if it gives better

Potentially silly question about peak flow and spirometry
Sorry if this is really silly! Do people get better PF readings when it's done as part of a spirometry test or do other people's PF readings on PF meters match those on spirometry machines?

Support for the medical profession
If someone come up with an idea that was able to work with all smart devices that when they took their pump or pumps to record the usage and allowed the user to give a doctor a printout or even access to it so they can see how best to support that user. All maybe a way of doing a peak flow test also

Feeling scared
Hi everybody, I'm being self indulgent but I just want to tell somebody sympathetic! My peak flow has been dropping for 2 or 3 weeks, in the 'amber' but not the 'red' zone, I haven't been able to sleep because I'm so uncomfortable, I need my blue inhaler multiple times a day, my voice varies between

Chest is being a little *ahem* snitch
I have severe asthma-although-possibly-not (long story but I’m happy to divulge if anyone is interested) and although my lung function was in the normal range at my last clinic appointment, it was reduced for me. This was my first appointment at the new clinic in a different county so all that really

What should i ask my asthma nurse tomorrow?
Hi all. Sorry a slightly long post to follow. For those who haven't seen previous posts i had an asthma flare up in mid December. No cold or flu symptoms. Just shortness of breath constantly with little relief from ventolin. I've had asthma since birth but had no major flare ups since i was a child.
