Not Asthmatic Diagnosis
I have short breath all the time specially in the morning but without wheezing or cough. I feel breathless with cough only after exercise (without wheezing). I used a peak flow for 3 days and the variation was 15% but I didn't try it before and after exercise. I asked the pharmacist about a medicine

Few questions on taking the inhalers
Morning all, As a newbie to taking inhalers for asthma, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm currently taking Qvar 100 2 inhalations twice-A-Day. Could you let me know: 1. In the morning should I take it before or after breakfast? 2. Should I measure my peak flow before or after taking the

Chemical type fumes ( reflux?) causing problems in upper airways
Dear all Some of you may recognise me as having bronchiectasis and asthma. I did post a while ago about my current problem and no one had seemed to experience it, also medical profession don't really know so feel abit of a freak and would love some help or to hear from someone else who's had it! Here

Putting on weight!!!
I had my yearly asthma check today and everything was really good , my peak flow had improved, all other things were well within normal range until I got on the scales .... to my horror I had gained 2kgs. Now I didn't start this to lose weight even though I know I need to maybe drop a stone. It's hard

First Asthma Attack Ever - Recovery Time?
Hi there. I have never had asthma before, however do have hay fever, some years worse than others. Back in June 2017 I slept with the windows open in 32 degree heat and there was a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, I woke up with a really tight chest and couldn't breathe properly. The doctor said

Change of inhalers
Hi there Had an asthma review with the nurse today as I have recently felt that my asthma isn't under control. I have been experiencing shortness of breath and chest tightness (no cough or wheeze) and having to use salbutamol more than normal. Peak flow was normal today so she didn't feel my asthma

Reply to Q 'Do I have asthma & not know it?'
I know exactly the feeling in my respiratory tract and scenario you describe. I had to see a Locum GP and he changed my life. He prescribed Furosemide, sold under the brand name Lasix. My Cardiologist said it's not necessarily because I have heart failure. I think the respiratory tract is in a constant

Asthma or something else?
For the last 3 years I have had a strange crackly, squeaky sound but only some of the time. I kind of thought it was seasonal. My GP didn't think it was Asthma, he arranged various heart tests and it was found I had mild aortic stenosis. My current doctor is revising the tests. However, I have been

Severe asthma help
I have had asthma since I was 5 years old, I'm now 29 and it has gotten progressively worse. I have finally been referred to a specialist after all these years. I have tried montelukast but the side effects gave me severe migraines which left me bed bound and I have two young children to run around

Peak flows good but still short of breath
Hi. I had a severe asthma exacerbation that lasted 10 weeks! It is finally under control. Yay! My peak flow is back to normal and no wheezing or rattle. But I am still short of breath sometimes and weak. Has anyone else experienced that? I hate to go back to the doctor when my peak flows are good, but

Peak flow good but SpO2 at 94?
I'm having a really bad time with asthma lately, I've been to A&E a few times but they havne't done much about it. The thing is I don't have the classic wheezing symptoms, but I do feel short of breath, with pain and pressure in my chest. I use my peak meter and pulse oximeter to measure my oxygenation

New with odd symptoms
Hi all. Newbie & first post, might be a little long. I'm a 32 year old male, generally healthy (gym 3 times a week, run, box etc) but my asthma has been badly controlled pretty much since it was diagnosed when I was about 17. I have smoked for a lot of my adult life, since before asthma and during but

I am afraid to hope, but I think
I think my uncontrolled asthma of the past 6 weeks is getting under control. It happened so fast. Yesterday and now today, I am hardly wheezing or short of breath. My peak flow used to drop by the hour after using Ventolin, and now it stays pretty steady all day. The allergist increased my Symbicort
