Seretide Sereflo differences?????

Hi All, I'm 65 and was on Seretide for a long time, this was changed to Sereflo a few months ago. I seem to have a constant tickle/irritation since being on the Sereflo. I have always been able to get a good peak flow score and still do which does not help me being taken seriously, my asthma nurse tells me there is no difference between the two inhalers, has anybody else been changed over and had a reaction? Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, same happened to me, rattleben. My asthma pretty well controlled on Seretide 250 but on Sereflo, supposed to be the same, low level of asthma all the time and a constant headache that got worse and worse, until I became photosensitive with a terrible migraine.

I asked to be changed back to Seretide and the problems subsided. On paper, these two do sound identical, but there must be something different, in the other stuff they put in to ‘carry’ the drug, or something.

NICE guidelines say we can change back if we ask to do so. Sereflo is just an economy drive - sensible, but it’s got to work for us!

Hi Yatzy, sorry I've only just stumbled across your reply, I got changed to Fostair a while ago and it's working a lot better for me. I Hope you're all sorted now. Cheers, Ben

No problem. I’m back on Seretide 250, good for my asthma, but I do get fed up with the steroid skin bruising it causes. I’ve never tried Fostair, so it may be one to bear in mind when I feel I can try another change. I’ve got a general anaesthetic coming up in next few months, so I won’t risk rocking the boat until that’s over.

I have just been changed over a week ago and I too and having constant asthma symptoms, nearly had 2 attacks just walking up the high street today, bad headache as well. Early morning trip to the docs tomorrow to try to get an appointment, methinks. Hopefully I can swap back as well.

Hi, don't know if you still see these posts, I was wondering if I could ask if you think the fostair has larger particles? I found the sereflo seemed to have smaller particles than the Seretide? I was wondering if that could have been a factor for me.

I was also swapped to seraflo from seratide. Not only do I feel my asthma is not as well controlled and my mouth very dry after use I also have developed perioral dermatitis. I have ruled out everything else as the cause of the rash and don't wear makeup or use anything more than unscented soap or sunblock on my face. I use an aero chamber with mask I have just ordered one with a mouthpiece instead to see if my skin will improve. I cannot persuade my GP to switch me back to seratide
