Hi everyone, I posted a few months ago about the results of a thyroid blood test after I had a
partial
thyroidectomy
back in July 2022. I’m currently on 25mcg of levothyroxine a day and had another blood test last month. I just wanted to see what your opinions are?

I had a total thyroidectomy 20 years ago due to thyroid cancer, so my tsh levels are kept very low, usually 0.03 or sometimes even lower. As I have high cholesterol recently I was put on atorvastatin. Bloods were checked today and tsh has gone up to 2.75 though still in range. Could this be the

Low 9am cortisol?
Hi all I wondered if anyone may have some advice regarding 9am cortisol please. My 9am blood cortisol has been tested a few times now and the last three tests have been 142nmol/L | 172nmol/L | 192nmol/L (I suspect the most recent one is higher due to having an extremely stressful time before it)

The TSH and diogenes
I just found this, written by diogenes some time ago, that I saved:
The following papers from the Japanese shows that, in people with no working thyroid, "normal" healthy-type conditions on T4 therapy only occur if TSH is between 0.03-0.5.
Above this, hypo symptoms are still present. You

SSRIs
My daughter was prescribed SSRIs for depression during adolescence and is convinced that these were the cause of her developing hyperthyroidism. She is now 42 and has been told over several years that she needs a thyroidectomy, but refuses because of her lack of trust in the medical profession. Her symptoms

parathyroid specialists contd
I have not completed my question regarding low calcium level and dry mouth following my total thyroidectomy. I understand that low calcium is a typical symptom of parathyroid being damaged .I am taking calcium supplements and alfacalcidol - a form of Vit d enzyme to help with calcium absorption but

Levothyroxine brands
Can anyone advise on a brand of levo for sensitive people. I know what suits one might not suit another! In May 2022 I had my thyroid removed after years being overactive with goitre on Carbimazole. At one point my weight dropped to 50kgs and it took many months before it returned to within normal

Blood results interpretation required
Hi there, I need help interpreting my results. My symptoms are brain fog, joint aches, lack of energy and anxiety. These have been with me all my life. They got better in 2022 when I started combination therapy. However, I do not think I have reached my optimum (whatever that is) because these symptoms

GP only testing TSH now - no longer T3/T4 - concerned!
I am on Thyroxine due to a
partial
Thyroidectomy
years ago. Occasionally in the past the results show my dosage is too high or too low. Got bulgy eyes first thing, fast pulse, yet GP says TSH results OK - 0.72 If the Lab were testing T3 and T4 before there must have been a reason!

Private Endo and T3
Hi all, I haven't posted in a few months as I've been waiting for a telephone appointment with a private endo. In the interim I've been taking my Levo only, alternating 125mcg and 112.5mcg and feeling OKish, but not brilliant, low energy etc.. Had total thyroidectomy 2 years ago. I had my private consultation

So very grateful for Thyroid UK
I just have to express my gratitude to this forum and the admins who give of their time to help us who are or have been floundering with NHS input (or lack of input+even dismissiveness of our thyroid journey) with regard to our thyroid and other connected issues. My son will be 48 this year and that’

Successful follow up to previous post regarding bending the truth to obtain correct prescription level
Dear all, I wanted to let you know about my recent success in case it can help anyone facing the difficulties I faced. So, I've no Thyroid, was gradually lowered to 75 (from 150 - was 86kgs) and then put down to 50mcg Levo, where I became seriously ill. Drs used TSH testing only and put my illness

thy3f thyroid nodules on either side - doctors recommend total thyroidectomy
hi there I was recently diagnosed with 2 thy3f nodules on either side of my thyroid. Thy3f is an indeterminate result (25%malignancy 75% benign). I have no symptoms recently had a baby, breastfeeding, busy mom of 3 on no medication. Has anyone elected watch and wait tactic instead of thyroidectomy?
