I have not completed my question regarding low calcium level and dry mouth following my total thyroidectomy. I understand that low calcium is a typical symptom of parathyroid being damaged .I am taking calcium supplements and alfacalcidol - a form of Vit d enzyme to help with calcium absorption but really would like to stop both because of side effects: extremely dry/sore mouth at night . Any advice please? Does anyone know a parathyroid specialist? Do they exist?
