Osteoporosis, fosmax and prednisone
I have
osteopenia
and am concerned that discontinuing the fosmax for months will have a bad affect on my bones. Anyone know if I should be concerned? Thanks for your thoughts!

Zoledronate Infusion
I had a Dexa scan two years ago which showed I had Osteporosis of the spine and
Osteopenia
elsewhere so the Rheumatologist has arranged for 3 Zoledronate infusions at yearly intervals. First next week. Thank you.

Polymyalgia flare up!
In between all this I had a dexa scan which showed
Osteopenia
so, I had an IV fusion to help and I take the Calcuim D3.

I am new to this site
This should not be a surprise as I had been diagnosed with
osteopenia
2 years ago. But, it is a surprise as I have been active all my life even though I have had severe scoliosis since I was 11 years.

Covid long term effect taking prednisolone
I have osteoporosis/
osteopenia
and coeliac disease. I sometimes get a flare of dermatitis herpetiformis but only if I’ve been gluttened. Little itchy rash on odd parts of body. This was ruled out as meds for that didn’t work.

Osteopenia fun fact!
Everything was fine, except for some loss of density in my right hip (so that's
osteopenia
rather than osteoporosis). I was told I needed to begin weight bearing exercise (I was a real couch potato at the time).

Overwhelmed & tearful
I have mild osteoarthritis in both hips & my recent pelvic x-ray (in July) showed I have a touch of
osteopenia
. I imagine Estrogen suppressing drugs are not good for bones. I have a follow up appointment with the surgeon & breast nurse on Thursday. I have a lot to learn. Hugs to you all x

DXA v REMS
As you can see, that's a massive discrepancy and so the consultant repeated the REMS to make sure and the results were the same, which means I've gone from severe osteoporosis to
osteopenia
(almost)! Not only that, but the REMS also measures bone quality (23.9 for the spine and 19.7 for the hip).

Osteoporosis and osteopenia
As the issue of bone thinning is a constant worry for those of us on long term corticosteroid treatment, I thought this YouTube video posted recently in the Bone Health community would be of interest. I will add the link to my own post on bone health in our FAQ: https://healthunlocked.com/american-bone-health

My overall T score is -3.8 L3 is -4.3 and L4 is -5.1 gulp , Hip shows mild

Jaw discomfort
DEXA in August 2020 confirmed
osteopenia
and I began Alendronic Acid in October. Just in the last couple of weeks or so, I've started to feel a discomfort in my jaw (both sides).

Exercise for osteopenia and osteoporosis
This is a really informative video courtesy of Irma Jennings, who is a specialist in bone health nutrition, and physical trainer Sarah Purcell. I hope you're able to open the link, I don't know how long it will be available, but here it is: https://food4healthybones.com/blog/exercise-for-osteoporosis

Can ADT cause thinning of teeth?
I developed
osteopenia
in one hip during hormonal therapy, which also makes me wonder about a bone-tooth connection.

I have
osteopenia
, but when I had back surgery, the surgeon commented on the excellent quality of my bones. I would rather get my PMR controlled. Many thanks to you all. You are a wonderful support. Jane

Help!
My Dexa scan just showed
osteopenia
, my Vitamin D and Calcium levels are normal. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist at the end of August, it seems everyone just scratches their head and have no answers for me and just tell me I am to young to be going through this.

Advice on how to talk to Rheumy about a slow taper at the lower doses
I have mild
osteopenia
, mildly high bp which is controlled with drugs, mild gastritis, and my cataracts were removed years ago. The PMR blood indicators are now in the normal range.
Thank you in advance
for any experience you’ve had, and any advice.

Medicinal experiences
I was diagnosed with
osteopenia
several years ago and put on bisphosphonates. These eventually caused a hiatus hernia so I stopped taking them. Meanwhile developed breast cancer. Have been taking preventative medication post mastectomy and chemo for 5+ years.
