HELP! I'm New to osteoporosis - should I take meds?
I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis (at 63 - I think I'm too young) but I've always had
osteopenia
and am a small person.

Calcium needed or not…?
Showed mild
Osteopenia
. Was told to take 1,000 mg / day to help prevent degrading into Osteoporosis as taking Prednisone can progress that disease. So, started reading scientific papers.

Reclast Infusion
Hi, My Dexa scan showed
osteopenia
I have fractured both my hips and right foot. I canceled my infusion today because my Dexa really didn’t show osteoporosis yet and the bad reviews on the infusion. Anybody have information on their infusion experience? Thank you. Stephanie

Excrutiating pain from L 5, cancer connection?
Patient does have a history of
osteopenia
diagnosed via DEXA scan on 10/28/2021. The possibility of the development of osteoporosis with insufficiency fractures of the sacrum should be considered. 2.

Pressure from dr to go on meds. DEXA worse every time. Severe osteoporosis on every measure. Drug side effects or risk of fractures? Arrgh!
But had I done them more consistently I might have been scared straight at
osteopenia
(and started calcium + D) instead of dealing with full-blown osteoporosis now. I stupidly wanted to avoid radiation but after those fractures in my spine, I had tons of radiation.

Denosumab, is it worth it
The side effects run from annoying to horrible (ONJ) I had both types of bone scans recently including bone density and I do not have
osteopenia
or osteoporosis. I do have about 6 bone mets including one that was responsible for a pathological fracture but this was a real fluke.

Prolia and Osteoporosis
I took the shots for two years and my osteoporosis actually turned into
osteopenia
. My doctor stopped the shots for two years. Well, next bone scan showed osteoporosis in my hip and spine! Now my doctor is suggesting taking the Prolia again.

Trip Tips?
I’m 71 and run mainly to maintain bone health (I gave
osteopenia
) so could do without a repeat. I have a reputation for tripping- even when walking. Besides remembering to pick my feet up at every step, what can I do? Any footwear better than another? Anything else? Knee and elbow protectors?

I went , in a short period of time,from
osteopenia
- to my bones being so thin, an X-ray goes right thru. Good luck with this miserable disease.

How do people with PMR bike, garden and hike?
I have PMR and
osteopenia
but can't lift arms much, typing wears out hands quickly, can't squat. Legs are wobbly. I walk daily for 2-3 km, slowly. Posts often (change to sometimes) talk about folks exercising like I used to, but that doesn't seem possible now.

Better than a DEXA?
I am in my 2-year period of grace given by my MD before taking something for my
osteopenia
which was increasing. I've been doing what I can- exercise, weights, yoga, Calcium-D3-K2 supplements and doing the OsetoStrong program.

More about Dexascan / AA / Adcal
I
had to chase for the results to be resent to Surgery, and then had a phonecall from GP who told me I had
osteopenia
. T-scores: -1.5.spine, -2.2 hip, -1.5 something else maybe neck? ( I couldn't catch what he said). He didn't give me a Z score.

OsteoBoost Belt Study
If you live in San Francisco and have
osteopenia
please consider participating in a study regarding the OsteoBoost belt. It’s basically a wearable low intensity vibration belt, so potentially a drug-free way to reverse bone loss. Also, please share this info with others.

What does this mean?!
The Tscore was -2.5, meaning a -3.5%change since the 2015 scan (at which point I just had
osteopenia
in my spine). I also have a 6.5% chance of a “major of a major fracture”. My calcium levels were deemed to be fine but Alendronate was suggested.

Compression fracture?
It was probably more due to arthritis than the
osteopenia
but that's just my opinion. I'm wondering if there are exercises I could do to correct my posture and possibly get some of that height back. Or maybe a back brace. Thank you for reading this!
