New Study on Inulin
Nothing is going to be the long term solution to anything. I posted an article on Inulin earlier that had great promise. Now, this : https://news.weill.cornell.edu/news/2024/05/common-type-of-fiber-may-trigger-bowel-inflammation

5/14/24; My current attitude - striving to be an old curmudgeon
My tremor was misdiagnosed as essential tremor in ’09 and was correctly diagnosed 7/17/2011, so I consider this July to be my 15th anniversary and therefore feel entitled to blow off some steam. A couple things that irk me. One, people who have been diagnosed within the past 6 or 7 years, often less

I don’t care which supplement is working.
I feel awesome; the combo could be placebo. Today I took: - 2 scoops of Inulin and a Probiotic first thing in the morning. My whole body felt tingly for 45 minutes. (Tingly may be the wrong word, it wasn’t unpleasant, more like a glow.) - Hour later: 1 Neurogan’s Urolithin A 700mg, 1 Fatty15, 1-1/

Supplement Cocktail is working (Massive B1 OD) or is it the Fatty15
5/8/24: I am one of two PwP (that I know of) that are taking Fatty15. They have never found their B1 sweet-spot. They are lowering their B1 dose in hopes of finding their sweet-spot. I started lowering my dose of B1 on day 15 of taking Fatty15.
There is a good possibility that Fatty15 is responsible

Is There A Natural And Available Alternative To Fecal Microbiome Transplantation (FMT) ?

Pre-biotics vs post biotics - do we need pre, post or both?
This is a follow up post to the recent one about inulin. I had spent a lot of time involved with post-biotics but never really considered pre-biotics at all to date. This all changed quite recently when I stumbled across inulin which is described in a recent post so will not repeat all those comments

Inulin pre-biotic - bowels/stomach restoration aid
Hi All, It seems to me one of the most common hypo complaints revolves around a slighty lazy digestion and slower bowels than desirable with poor absorption of nutrition from the food and a life taken up with researching any buying a load of supplements to mitigate the shortfall. This has certainly

Microbiome in PD, RBD and 1st degree relatives
As much as I'd like to believe that one "bad" bacteria (desulfovibrio) is responsible for Parkinson's, I suspect the situation is more complicated than that, as this recently released study suggests; https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-38248-4 Certainly the evidence is accumulating though, that

Pilot trial with 20 Parkinsons patients has some success with prebiotic dietary bar
"[The dietary bar] consisted of 30% resistant starch (raw potato starch), 30% resistant maltodextrin (Nutriose), 30% stabilized rice bran, and 10% agave branched inulin." PNT article: Prebiotic bar, eaten daily, helps to ease inflammation in patients’ gut https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/news/prebiotic-bar-supports-healthier-gut-microbiome-pilot-trial

Have I made an error here.
I was researching some probiotics for myself to boost my intake of vitamins. I think I might have made a mistake I didn't look closely at what is in them. Can someone help me with this query. Is B12 bad for ckd at 2.5. ug per capsule Is inulin bad for ckd at the rate of 100mg per capsule. Hopefully

Keto diet : microbiome changes
If doing “therapeutic keto,” do the resulting gut biome changes contribute to the therapeutic benefit or should the gut biome be sustained through periodic refeeding of the biome via prebiotics, postbiotics , resistant starches? A nutritionist just told me that the changes to the gut in therapeutic

Prostate Cancer Patients Shouldn't be so Quick to Dismiss Metformin (despite some contrary opinions on Advanced Prostate Cancer forum)
([i]Note this study didn't include patients with prostate cancer. I post it to provide an alternative to postings here that discourage use of Metformin by prostate cancer patients. Metformin strengthens your immune system, reduces inflammation, moderates glucose levels, and provides resistance against

Does Probiotic help with bloating
Hello everyone, wondering if anyone has used a probiotic from a British Company called “BetterVits” it has good reviews but is expensive. I. Prepared to pay if it gets good results. £60 for 3 bottles of 30 or £40 for 1 bottle. They do give a 60 day money back guarantee. The tables contain Lactobacillus

Oxidative Stress (ROS), Sleep and the Gut Microbiome: Staying Alive
I am just back from a challenging (humbling) multiday backpack in the High Sierras of California. Very beautiful but drought conditions, dry stream water sources made it more difficult. Here is a pre-note on my own regimen: After completing my two phase radiation treatments for oligometastatic PC:

Interesting about probiotics and inulin to help with long term Covid symptoms
I just found this article from the U.K. which found lactobacillus probiotics and inulin a chicory product helped people with long Covid and helped some of them get rid of their long term gut issues. The article caught my husbands eye as he has been adding inulin and Kefir to his diet to help with
