Up until September my symptoms of RA were on a level where I was managing using
Nsaids
and painkillers. Then I had a bad stomach bug and I also am getting some symptoms of perimenapause. Then things changed with my inflammation levels.

New info about aspirin preventing spread of cancer
As you will know from my previous posts, aspirin and other
NSAIDs
(non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) like ibuprofen, which I am taking, can prevent cancer of various types, and can prevent spread in cancer patients (some, not all). This adds to the evidence of this.

Generally everyone seems to be too scared to give me
NSAIDs
, but in my mind everything else is really major, addictive painkillers, and whilst I only would want it for a few days while the abx kick in, it scares me a little! Any thoughts on this? Are there any other more 'minor' painkillers?

GUM Clinic/Sexual Testing. Do I have to be tested for everything?
I have recently gotten into a new relationship at university. I have been checked before for STD's but never for HIV. I like to get checked whenever starting a new sexual relationship. My new partner has been checked and he has assured me that he has nothing. However, we want to stop using condoms as

THE BIG FIGHT. TOCILIZUMAB -MTX TAPER TRIAL Over 12 ROUNDS (64 weeks) Commentary courtesy Fly on the Wall
Couple more paracetamol but no
NSAIDS
yet. 10th Sept. This looks evenly matched. Could be a prolonged war of attrition decided on points. It all depends on how well The Cytokine Kid can pace himself against IJ’s relentless onslaught .Round 1 drawing to a close.

ROUND 2 THE BIG FIGHT.
The Kid might regret ditching those
NSAIDS
yet. The Cytokine Kid or Toc H as some call him looks thoughtful as they top up his methotrexate tablets for the next round. He's probably wondering whether he'll be in the taper group come round 6. He won't know. Nor will the medics.

Excessive Sweats and Leg Pain
His platelet count is very low but he had been put on
NSAIDS
which they have now taken him off. Very worried and working myself up on the internet. Very confused as well as his hormone levels are so low as well.

Feeling left high and dry to suffer alone...
They convinced me to go in, but guess what... they could give me nothing more than double my dose of
NSAIDS
and co-codamol!! They could have told me that over the phone!!! So now I am exhausted, twice as stressed and feeling left high and dry by those that I thought were there to help.

How far Glucosamine is helpful for human beings treating Firbromyalgia/Arthritis?
In addition, whether or now not Glucosamine provides any advantages over based drugs similar to acetaminophen, standard
NSAIDS
, or selective Cox-2 inhibitors.

My partner suffers from Ovarian Fibroma ( possible cause of her chronic pelvic pain) and hypothyroidism....
...the Gynaecological surgeon we saw won't perform a laparoscopy until my partner (who has unstable Hypothyroidism) gets her levels in check. Meanwhile she can't get her levels in check because we can't find a decent Endocrinologist who could do that. We have seen quite a few endocrinologists already

Is anyone on any of these: azathioprine, Arcoxia (etorocoxib), lidocaine plasters?
My GP wouldn't give COX-2 inhibitors because of the cardiac risks, but the rheumatologist says that they are increasingly finding that the older
NSAIDs
also increase the risk and many people only need the COX-2 medication every three days once established, which reduces the risk.

About the causes of pelvic pain
If pain is present on the first day of the menstrual cycle and improves or disappears with anti-prostaglandin medication such as
NSAIDs
then prostaglandin pain is the likely cause.

Good CA125 result - am now on celecoxib, another anti-inflammatory drug.
There is some evidence that such drugs, ie aspirin or other
NSAIDs
, may help some people with cancer. By the way, I am going away for an 8 day break in North Uist (Outer Hebrides or Western Isles) from tomorrow afternoon, and will not be looking at emails when I am away. Best wishes.

Methotrexate and Naproxen together
Since starting MTX about 8 weeks ago I've avoided taking any
NSAIDs
(Naproxen) at the same time ie I don't swallow MTX and Naproxen simultaneously. As a result I tend to go for about 24 hours between Naproxen doses once a week.
