tapering too rapidly after synovitis?
I have now had PMR for about 3 1/2 years; several months ago my hands became very painful, and I was diagnosed eventually with acute synovitis. I was told that if I did not go onto high doses of Pred. I might lose the use of my hands, so I agreed. This is the regime I am on: 20 mg pred for 2 weeks,

Neurological processing disorder from bacterial meningitis
morning, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with neurological processing disorders please? I went to the hospital recently for an auditory processing disorder but it’s now thought that this is wider neurological processing disorder that I need to be referred to a brain trauma specialist

Leflunomide and peripheral neuropathy
I believe my peripheral neuropathy may be caused by leflunomide. The bumf in the packet says it is a common side effect. Neither the rheumatologist, the neurologist or the pharmacist think it is the cause, and I can't see anything in NICE guidelines. I think there was some research in the early 20s

Metoject pens with Methotrexate
I have had 17.5mg of Methotrexate injected into my thigh once weekly with a Metoject Pen since January this year. Virtually ALL have had a problem with the safety release not working without the pen being tapped repeatedly on a hard surface. Too many have somehow leaked liquid onto my leg as well as

Confused About Prolia
OK, my bone density reading in December was -2.4 (osteopenia but VERY close to osteoporosis). Given that I was just on HT (Orgovyx) Dr Lam suggested I get on Prolia, which I did a month ago. So, this is supposed to improve my bone density thus reducing my chances of breaking a bone, especially should

Stay vigilant for PD cures
An example from my own experience. I am currently experiencing a kind of miraculous 'healing' probably (note this word) by reducing and managing a vitamin B6 deficiency. Suppose I hadn't been tested at the time and immediately, like so many, taken a vitamin B complex with P5P, I might as well have put

On demand Tadalafil or Viagra
Seeking advice from different people regarding results from using on demand Tadalafil or Viagra. I have been taking 5 mg of tadalafil daily since prostatectomy in September 2022, the tadalafil certainly does not result in what you would term an erection but does allow some engorgement of my penis.

Guilty or not ???
Today, after a few days of increasing pain in my neck, started on left side on Wednesday this morning also right side, I have taken extra 5mg Pred without consulting my GP who has previously indicated he was happy for me to manage my medication. For about 4 weeks now I have managed with 6mg Pred, so

Myelin Sheath Repair
This isn't technically a B12 question but since a lot of us have peripheral neuropathy I thought I'd post it here. Has anyone read about a newly discovered use for an old antihistamine, clemastine? They say it can repair the myelin sheath for MS patients. Here is a blurb I read: "[i]Now, researchers

PMR second time around!
Not long ago I posted that I was 1year zero pred....now I'm back on it.Pro often writes that people say the second time around is different, and mine is. First time it was an excruciating burning sensation round my hips like a girdle of fire, and only there. And it hit in a couple of days. This time

numb chin syndrome
I seem to have a numb chin syndrome, a good week now. The cause should be a metastasis on my skull, pressing on a nerve and causing the numbness of the chin. Next week I will have a ct of the skull.Anyone more info?

teeth again!
I posted previously about having 4 loose teeth . My new dentist wants to do a deep clean and root planing due to periodontal disease. I am concerned about the healing process and it causing tooth sensitivity. Any advice is welcome please?
