I see from previous posts that you have been struggling with nerve pain for many years. You have my sympathy as I am not affected.

Nerve sensation in one form or another come with the territory of AMN. Axons and fibrous nerves cloak our entire physical frame, so when damage occurs it's largely a matter of chance how we're affected.

I hope you can find relief with some pain therapies. Nerve block sounds fairly significant and I don't know what it may entail.

All good wishes

Chris

Appreciate hearing from you. Yes, I’ve had this for years…it’s constant so it definitely wears me down. I’m going to do a bit more reading about nerve blocks before I make another appointment. Thanks again.

My mum has chronic back pain, which I maintain is because of AMN. She had two steroid implants and radiofrequency ablation. All at different times, all when she was immobile with pain.

She said it made no difference, but it's hard to tell with her. She refused so much treatment for years and had each one these when she was in agony, then had the next.

Has to be worth a try, especially the ablation

Good to hear from you. Such a shame about your mom. The implants are next on my doctor’s list of things to try for this pain.

Several years ago I was getting severe pain in my lower back on the right side at my belt line. I was having to take codeine on to a regular basis. I asked my Endo to refer me to the pain clinic. I saw the doctor for an hour and a quarter. She was very thorough. She got me to have an ECG. She prescribed me enlafax. It is an antidepressant but has been shown to work on nerve end pain. She started me on 37.5mg daily for the first month. I am now on 75mg daily. Within a few days the pain went away. It certainly works for me.

Hi Denny, he also put me on an antidepressant called Nortriptyline but only 20 mg. daily. It noticed a slight improvement in the neuropathy. Do you have neuropathy pain?

Since I got rid of the back pain I don't have any major issues with pain. The last 18 months I have had tennis elbow which I think is a result of having to use canes to walk. It's just the annoyance rather than the pain. I feel I'm one of the lucky ones with AMN. I get brassed of with the problems that come with it but I tell people that you don't have to look very far to see someone worse off.

I wish I could get rid of my lower back pain. I have been told it is in my SI joints. After moving house I am waiting to be referred to a neurologist having been told I couldn't see one. I haven't seen a pain specialist for over a year now. My acupuncturist helps but it is really getting me down now.
