If I haven't taken any Gabapentin/Lyrica/Baclofen for a few days, I get the electric shock sensation just before a spasm hits. It isn't my imagination. Be a pretty rich fantasy life I have if so. It is a definite sensation.
Even if I have taken Gabapentin or whatever, any spasms that leak through I can still feel whenever they are going to hit, like a countdown.
I put it down to the demyelination.
Can't just be you and me. I have tried talking spasms with my neurologist, but like I've said before, it isn't life threatening and bar pills this is nothing he can do. He could care less.
Thank you for your response! I figured it was getting worse, usually it just feels like Mexican jumping beans in my legs at times….. I hate the feeling that it’s coming but you’re not sure how many seconds or minutes later.
Thank you for the reassurance that I’m not crazier than I already am…… 😂😂
Monkeybus got it right. It’s purely a spasm. I can feel it shorting through my legs whenever it’s going to happen. I also have triggers, remaining on a pressure point too long can cause them for me. There has been nothing that I’ve been prescribed or nothing I can do to change or prevent them, like Monkeybus said, demyelination is the most likely cause.
I definitely get spasms, especially at night, but never electric like shocks. That’s when my legs hurt and are the most uncomfortable. For me, I find taking things like magnesium and potassium help so much.
I have them as well. If I sit for any length of time and get in tune with the sensations running through my legs, my legs are in a constant state of fine spasms. Without Baclofen the sensations would be unbearable.
thanks for sharing. I usually move, but when I’m constantly stumble bumble then falling I’m all sorts of messed up. I have so much trauma in my right kne the orthopedic doctor won’t touch it! But I have fell 2 more times on my knees in the past 3 months! I’m going to family dr tomorrow because I think I have a baker’s cyst that is there or popped (bruising on back of knee.
I walk with a walker with seat so I can sit down. I stopped driving January 22 when I broke my leg in 2 places. Not safe and am a huge liability out on the road.
I just bought one of these vibration plates. Helps circulation, bone strengthening, neuro: amazon.com/dp/B08L1NPC26?ps...
I use 2 canes and a rollator sometimes. I've slowly built up to walking more. I got super lazy over the years. Feel so much better walking little amounts throughout the day
Also, usually stuff like this resolves on it's on, I find. I wouldn't do anything drastic. Try to listen to your body. Do what you can. Balance of rest and being active. Eat healthy. Meditate. Keep low stress. Every little thing helps. Praying you find relief soon!
Thanks for your post! I have been dealing with AMN for the last few years. I feel this electric shock sensation in my legs almost every night. It is usually followed by deep pain, mostly in my left foot. I do take a low dose of gabapentin, and it helps a little. I feel a twinging like sensation in my left foot almost all the time, and on occasion, it is bad enough that I cannot fall asleep at night. So, I think we have had similar synptoms for sure!
