Trouble Tapering
I was diagnosed with PMR 2 years ago. My doctor started me on 40 mg prednisone. I think the higher dose was because I was in severe pain. It didn't take too long before I tapered to 20 mg. I then got down to 15 mg but had to go back up to 20 mg where I was stuck for a while. By this past February I had

Rapid Taper
My Rheumatologist wanted me to taper in 6 days from 20mg to 0 prednisone in order to reassess me for PMR. Even though I did have elevated CRP and ESR he is not quite sure since some of my symptoms weren’t gone. Will all my so called PMR symptoms return by the time I’m at O and will my markers be back

Flare or not
Five years on and been doing okay. Struggling to get below 1mg prednisone though. I've been splitting the 1mg and taking it slowly but maybe not slowly enough. I now live in new town with new doctor (two years here) . I'm growing conscious of morning aches and stiffness in both shoulders and hips

Down to 1.5mg prednisone now for about 5 days
I do notice a few more stiffness issues in the morning. But no typical PMR pains. Left middle finger maybe slightly improved. I actually can sleep better now as the fingers dont hurt so much. The pain develops mostly when sleeping, I can not sleep in any position except for on my stomach or my hands

Profile Update
I was going to update my profile but after adding additional ailments several times and then having them disappear, I have decided to inform via this post. I was diagnosed with PMR early 2016 with 15 mgs prednisone. Since that year I've had right leg replacement and bleeding ulcer at the same time

Is it Adrenal Insufficiency
I am down to 4.5mg Prednisolone. It has been up and down but OK. Two weeks or longer on this dose before I even start trying for 4mg. Yesterday I took the train for London for a DEXA scan and BT prior to seeing Rheumy next week. It was awful. The train was crowded with snotty coughing kids - standing

Not sure if its really PMR
Hi everyone, as per my previous post I've just been told that my symptoms suggest I have PMR. My GP has sought advice from Rheumatology and been advised to treat as PMR and see how my symptoms go. I started 20mg of Prednisolone per day on Tuesday and felt almost instant relief. I also have osteoarthritis

Itching due to medication??
Hello, I had a liver transplant 3 years ago and take tacrolimus, mycophenolate and prednisone for anti rejection. I have recently had a very itchy localised rash on my neck which I have been treating with hydrocortisone cream. This is having no effect. I was wondering if it could be a reaction to any

shingles
I was diagnosed with PMR 3 years ago and after a fairly bumpy ride I have now been off Prednisone for two and a half months. I have been called for a Shingles vaccination. I reacted badly to the Covid jabs each time. I have had Shingles twice! Once about 35 years ago and then for the second time

AM Cortisol Test
I have tapered to 5mg using Dorset Lady’s 5 week taper. Curiosity got the better of me and last week I had an am cortisol test done. The lab where I had the test said it had to be done before 10am. I was aware that the earlier in the morning the better, but because I take my thyroid medication first

Side-effects of using Ventolin every day
Does anyone here use Ventolin every day? I need it every time I go outside, and it gives me 4-5 hrs of relief from the chest tightness, "bubble" in my chest, and shortness of breath. So I am thinking just to take it in the morning every day and so be it. I need to get things done (e.g. to get a new job

Chinese Medicine?
I met a Doctor of Chinese Medicine the other day. She gave me her card and said she does online consultations. I thought she seemed very sincere and was not simply touting for business. My question is has anyone with PMR been helped by Chinese Medicine? I know that Prednisone is the only known way

OK! I'm starting to prednisone taper again...
Yesterday I saw my rheumatologist after 4 months. I'd been doing really well on my tapering every three weeks and was at 3mg when I had the shoulder replacement surgery in July. We scheduled my follow-up for September since I was doing so well at my last visit in early June. I remained at the three

Vaccines & Increased Prednisone
Diagnosed with PMR in August 2022. Started at 20 mg Prednisone, down to 5 mg of prednisone. Also prescribed hydroxychloroquine. My rheumatologist instructed me to get RSV and Pneumonia vaccines which I did today. He is prescribing me biologic, Kevzara because I am experiencing quite a bit of discomfort

Painkillers
Hi, sorry for my second post in as many days! What painkillers are safe to take with prednisolone please? I'm assuming paracetamol but wasn't sure if anything else was OK to take? I suffer with a lot of migraines (after effects of having a blood clot on my brain several years ago) and the best thing

OK! Arrived at the 1mg/day prednisone level
Diagnosed with PMR last fall. Put on 13mg/day of Pred. & told to taper off at 1mg/mo. Got down to 2mg/day one month ago but instead of dropping straight to 1mg, after reading here about being careful when your dosage drops to this level, I went to 1mg one day, then 2mg next day, then 1mg next day w
