Update on painful buttocks and thighs
My rheumatologist requested a CRP test for me yesterday, and it was below 3, low normal range. As I think back, I may have over done it four days in a row, and this may just be very sore muscles. My mother would have called it being “lame.” I have been taking it very easy the last couple days and

Newly diagnosed
Hi everyone, I've just been told that my symptoms suggest I have PMR. My GP has sought advice from Rheumatology and been advised to treat as PMR and see how my symptoms go. I started 20mg of Prednisolone per day yesterday and within a few hours felt quite sick and a little dizzy with a very bad headache

wrong diagnosis - paying the price!!
briefly, diagnosed by GP with PMR in April this year, on 15mg of prednisolone - total relief (all day/night). Rheumatology Consultant said not PMR as CRP normal and I’m 54 years old. Told to Fast taper 15, 10, 5 then off over 4 weeks. I was Ok down to 5mg, twinges started - told to continue off.

Prednisolone withdrawal.
I just came from a Rheumatologist appointment. He has discontinued my prednisolone. I'm currently taking 5/10mg. tablets. I ran out of the liquid about a week ago (15mls.) every morning. I started having severe GCA symptoms (headaches, scalp tenderness, jaw and gum pain). Also, my PMR symptoms have

painful thighs and buttocks
My initial symptoms and PMR pain were all in my shoulders, neck, hands, and wrists. I was diagnosed in Dec 2019. Tapered off prednisone too fast (now I know) in 14 months; and it came back one month later after my second COVID (Moderna) vaccine. Just shoulders and arms, but made them very painful

Update on 8/4 post from alperk
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated, 35 grays in 5 fractions. PSA crept back up to 4.2 on 9/6 and scan showed again only one active site in nearly the same location

Should I persevere and keep working?
I’m just starting to taper from 10mg prednisolone to 9.5mg using the DSNS method. I’m 71 and until PMR hit I was very fit and active and still working 3 six hour shifts a week in a care home. After a couple of weeks off sick before the steroids kicked in I’ve continued to work but just the last few

Methotrexate Confusion
I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA in 2015! I naively thought that these conditions would have “burned themselves out” some time ago, but I am still waiting! In the meantime I have a question about Methotrexate… On the suggestion of my Rheumatologist I started taking 10mg of Methotrexate a week in 2017

Could this be the start of neuropathy?
I had my first Docetaxel infusion 6 days ago. Due to the Dexamethasone before and the Prednisone since, I have been really well. In the gym most days, and eating really well. I have had no side effects - until today. It's a minor thing, but both thumbs are a little sore. It's not a tingling sensation

Hi everyone. I recently had an X-ray on my hip as I am having hip pain which causes my leg to give way when I transfer from my wheelchair. I have MS and GCA. The result of the X-ray was Osteoarthritis and “probable demineralization.” So when I saw my rheumatologist today I asked if I should have a DEXA

low Immunoglobulins
Hello Everyone, My CLL is actually under control with normal labs, except low immunoglobulins. IGA and IGM basically nothing, IGG 401. Taken off Zanubrutinib when I got Covid in July 2022, been off since then. Continually tired, some days exhausted. With lower extremity pain, feels like inflammation

Has 3 years on Prednisolone caused all these problems?
Hi All,I haven't posted for a while but regularly read the daily highlights and continue to learn about our condition and take comfort that there are others who understand the difficulties we face living with PMR. The last few weeks, have been challenging for a few reasons. I'm currently 3 weeks into

Taking ibuprofen while on a low dose of prednisolone
Hi I’ve already had one hip replaced 13 years ago (before my PMR diagnosis) and I’ve been lucky to get away with not having any trouble with the other - until recently. It’s deteriorating rapidly, and I’m on first steps of the “pathway” to have surgery, which I know will likely take years. The best
