Why are docs so eager to get us off prednisone?
My mom had PMR and got avascular
necrosis
and had a hip replaced. I cannot believe the number of joint replacements that the good people on this forum have collected. WAY above the norm, IMO. That’s why I’m TRYING to stay off prednisone even though I still have hip stiffness.

Post-HIFU PSA result of 4.6. Not what I was expecting.
MRI also showed
necrosis
(evidence that tumor was killed). I passed red slivers of tissue in my water for 6 weeks afterwards too. Does the PSA 4.6 mean the cancer is still there or has returned? I know I have an enlarged prostate anyway. Could it be that?

Prednisone and necrotic hip
Anyone else develop
necrosis
from prednisone? What was your prednisone dosage and duration? I’m afraid of going back on prednisone to treat a relapse because I don’t want to have my hip bones rot.

avascular necrosis of femoral
has anybody had a run in with this due to use of prednisone? Currently I am experiencing this as if it wasn't bad enough to have advanced prostate cancer(still in remission thanks) to go into this.

In further studies, capsaicin inhibited tumor

factor-alpha-stimulated degradation of IkappaBalpha in PC-3 cells, which was associated with the inhibition of proteasome activity.

Bisphosphonates & Prolia -- DANGEROUS
That is why you hear about jaw line
necrosis
and spontaneous femur fractures! The new line of drugs are called Denosumab (of which Prolia is very popular).

Can cause bone deformity in jawbone and
necrosis
. No wonder the osteoporosis nurse said "DON'T Google Risedronate" ! Just been told after 1-yr Dexascan that I still have osteoporosis (no idea if better or worse or the same) and to continue with treatment.

3-Bromopyruvate induces rapid human prostate cancer cell death by affecting cell energy metabolism, GSH pool and the glyoxalase system
The provided information on the multi-target cytotoxic action of 3-BP, finally leading to PC-3 cell
necrosis
, might be useful for future development of 3-BP as a therapeutic option for prostate cancer treatment.

A role for inflammation
In addition, the research team discovered that in people who received drugs used to reduce inflammation—tumor

Zolendronate (or also called Reclast in U.S.A.)
My Rheumatologist has told me that the risk of Jaw
necrosis
(problems) is minimal. Has anyone else had dental implants since being on Zolendronate/Reclast?

Thank you..
To be fair, I have had avascular
necrosis
of the right hip which may be their over-riding concern but I do take adcal and magnesium, plus live yogurts etc. The MRI -if and when it happens- should indicate any issues with the left hip I guess.

Avascular Necrosis
Hi. I'm being checked out for AVN (hip). I have a long history of being prescribed prednisone, have SLE and have had, still have pain and mobility problems, particularly my right hip. I also have some vascular problems, SLE causing right sided heart block . Has anyone been diagnosed with AVN? Any info

GP wants me to take osteoporosis preventing med, but after osteo
necrosis
mentioned, not rushing to that and probably won't take it. I've spoken to dentist and pharmacist who were helpful. My B12 low for at least 2 years.
