I was diagnosed with AF around four years ago now, by a cardiologist in a major teaching hospital. I was put on anticoagulants and referred back to my GP. The local surgery check my meds yearly and I have an annual blood test, but that’s it. I am wondering whether I should ask to be referred back to

Shingles
I wrote yesterday about how my GPs computer system could not record that the Shingrex virus is administered twice. So you might be recorded as not going back for the second dose. I’ve had another bout of Shingles despite both doses needing anti virals. So please make sure if you have Shingrex that it

I had my second laparoscopy last month with a specialist endo surgeon in a well regarded endo centre. Afterwards the surgeon came to speak to me. He said he’d removed endometriosis from my bowel surface and the right side of my pelvis, where he’d had to move my ureter to cut endo away, which was lying

what to do??
I am really struggling, I am wondering if I have hashimotos. Diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in march ( the day my dad died) just 6 months after losing my mother in law. Had gone to the drs thinking my HRT needed tweaking for my perimenopause symptoms. (Hair loss, brittle nails, weight gain, sweating

Hi all, I posted on here little while ago about my mum having total abdo hysterectomy for ovarian cancer. We are now 3 weeks on from surgery. a 10cm cyst was removed which at the time, they assumed it was cancer. We went to her results and biopsy results yesterday. We were all extremely shocked to

PSA Follow up
Had an appointment with my urologist today. PSA is still 0.00. Obviously I’m thrilled. He said that since I’m 3 years out from RT and 4 years from RP, he’s comfortable with seeing me annually because my PSA has been stable at 0.00 for three years. I told him I thought I’d feel better waiting until

Recently Diagnosed
I was recently diagnosed with stage 3/ 4 endometriosis after a long drawn out process of back and forth to my GP because I was in constant agonising pain and heavy periods. I have sharp stabbing pain in my lower tummy that flares up at any time throughout my menstrual cycle. My pain is always in my stomach

Can the Depo injection have an impact on the outcome of a laparoscopy?
Hi everyone. I’m booked in for a laparoscopy on 9th December and, by chance, I already had an appointment booked for the Depo injection the day before. I’ve been on the depo for about 6 years. Just wondering whether it can have an impact on what is shown in a laparoscopy and whether I should cancel my

chest pain 18 days after ablation
hello I am a 47 year old healthy female I had a heart ablation which the surgeon said went well. I stayed in two nights as my blood pressure kept dropping every time I would stand. I had a very heavy chest feeling almost like a balloon was surrounding my heart. I completely lost my appetite. The hospital

If you’ve seen any of my posts before, this is a little update! So I had my appointment with gynae about a week ago now that I cried throughout AGAIN. My laparoscopy found no endometriosis but I have all the symptoms and a family history of it so I’m feeling very defeated and confused. Anyway, the appointment

Morning all, I will try and keep this short. I’ve recently turned 40, I have suffered with heavy, painful periods for most of my adult life. I did have IVF 12 years ago and nothing was found (IVF due to being gay and have a distinct lack of sperm in our relationship) In 2019 I went to the GP but

B1 Therapy #Case 2 *Andreia Peres
I've decided to write a series of posts about B1 therapy for a group of people I'm following. Most of them I met through Young Parkies Portugal, or they reached out to me on social media asking for guidance in applying this therapy. Some of these texts had already been published on social media, and

Recurrence!
Been a bumpy year (5 1/2 years ago R lower lobectomy stage 1 R upper lobe wedge stage 1) .....(see below for recent details) but wondering for those who had recurrences when did they occur and how were they managed? Did you have others since? My surgeon did frozen sample in OR and detected no cancer

First run after hernia op
Those of you who read Damien's parkrun post every Saturday will be aware that I was diagnosed with a hernia in February. I was told that it wasn't linked with running and the type I had (inguinal) is not uncommon among 'older' men. It was only occasionally painful but often uncomfortable, so initially
