Recently diagnosed with ANCA Vasculitis.
In terms of medication, I was given 500mg IV
Methylprednisolone
on the day I was diagnosed and then 50mg prednisolone, 400mg co-trimoxazole, 50mg fluconazole and 30mg lansoprazole a day after that. Just over a week ago my consultant added 1g MMF (500mg twice a day) to the treatment plan.

Potassium Deficiency From Steroid Therapy
I recently suffered from hypokalemia (potassium deficiency) as a result of
methylprednisolone
therapy for PMR, and required approximately 4500 mg of potassium each day to prevent muscle fatigue and cardiac arrhythmia.

Steroid Treatment ~ No Change in Symptoms
On Jan 6-8 I attended my local hospital where I did steroid (
methylprednisolone
) treatment. My symptoms (numbness/tingling/burning/weakness) in my arms/legs/torso have not improve at all. In fact, I feel as though some of my symptoms have worsened.

The differences between Prednisone, Prednisolone, and Medrol.
Medrol, is a brand name for
methylprednisolone
, which is actually nothing more than prednisolone with a methyl side chain attached. This side chain increases the activity of the prednisolone by approximately 20%, which lowers the required dose by this same amount.

Fed up
I had a depot
methylprednisolone
a month ago. At the same time I started 10mg of leflunomide. I felt fine up until last few days. First I got stomach problems, and now I seem to have contracted hip bursitis! I would have thought the steroid would have prevented the bursitis?

Pulsed Steroids
I am prepared to give this a go.
methylprednisolone
or dexamethasone are the meds in question. More toxic drugs to pollute my temple with. A lot of people in the MS community take Prednisone.

Depo-medrol Injections for the treatment of PMR
While this regimen doubled the steroid use outlined in the aforementioned trial, it still averaged just 11.4mg of
methylprednisolone
per day; which is significantly less than the 20mg oral dose of prednisone my doctor determined was appropriate for my weight.

Feet and ankle swelling after quitting/stopping prednisone
This is my 2nd dose pack of
methylprednisolone
, it usually starts with 7 tablets first day and goes down to 1 tab the last day of a 7 day pack... It's like 1 tab of
Methylprednisolone
is equal to 5 mg of prednisone if I remember.
