A change
Okay I went to see my my Endocologist and she read the TSH range which was 2.47 and my Free 4 and was amazed at the Range of the TSH and lowered my medication
Methimazole
to 5 mg twice a day. And checked my thyroid and was also amazed that she could not barely feel anything.

15 months Post RAI with Graves Eye Disease.
I was then referred to a Specialist who told me nothing, but prescribed me Tapazole (Aka
Methimazole
) He never told me anything more. I took the Tapazole and went on with my merry life. I lost a lot of weight. I thought I felt great. I was no longer taking Tapazole.

Choppy Vision??
I have been on
methimazole
for quite a while and only went on PTU during my pregnancy and switched back to
Methimazole
afterwards (that was in 2009). I have persistent visual issues which started during pregnancy with my son and got worse after. I also developed debilitating migraines.

Timing of blood test when on Methimazole
It looks as if
Methimazole
doesn't hang around in the system like T4 does. Shouldn't my cats system be empty of medication to measure what is going on when no meds are present?

Pregnancy during treatment for Hyperthryoid
(Using PTU instead of
methimazole
) Can pregnancy make my current situation worse because of hormonal changes in the body in addition to current levels? Not sure how to plan ahead... Thanks in advance!

Lithium as an Alternative Option in Graves Thyrotoxicosis
The patient was started on
methimazole
40 mg BID, but her LFTs elevated precipitously with features of fulminant hepatitis.
Methimazole
was determined to be the cause and was stopped. After weighing pros and cons, lithium was initiated to treat her persistent thyrotoxicosis.

Hyperthyroid since 13 years old
Endocrinologist said I had slightly toxic goiter so put me on
Methimazole
. Made me sick. Put me on PTU. Thyroid still hyper .01 TSH. In 2003 I ingested 2 mCi of 1-31, called “RAI.” I had so much radiation couldn’t be around children for a week (worked as a health aide at a school).

Hyperthyroid
I was diagnosed with hyperactive thyroid 15 years ago and I took Tapazol (
methimazole
) for one year and I was healed. At least, I thought I was healed...8 months ago I was diagnosed with this decease again. This time, much worse. It affected my eyes. Changed my face.

In the meantime he prescribed propranolol and
methimazole
twice a day. I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin. I have headaches EVERY morning that I wake up and my whole body hurts when I get out of bed.

L-carnitine to Treat Graves Disease
However, In retrospect, I wonder if I had taken L-carnitine instead of
Methimazole
to treat the condition would my results have more favorable and my metabolism not crash.

New trends in the management and guidance to reduce the risk of birth defects caused by antithyroid drugs
[/u] Birth defects after the use of
methimazole
(MMI) (or its prodrug carbimazole) have been considered to be very rare, and no risk has previously been associated with the use of propylthiouracil (PTU).

Sorry so long but here are my results to why my doctor said I have overacting thyroid
Let's start a medication called
methimazole
. Please take one tablet twice daily. The blood sugar is normal, but the 3 months average of your sugars, hemoglobin A1c, is mildly elevated at 5.9%. I think this is partly due to the overactive thyroid gland. We will continue to follow it.
