Feeling good - inside and out!
I decided to take a chance and halve my
meloxicam
(pain/anti-inflammatory meds) on November 1. On November 3, I started acupuncture. On November 21, I decided to test ditching the
meloxicam
altogether. I feel GREAT!

A word of caution about stopping Omeprazole if you take NSAIDs
The doctor thinks that, by stopping the Omeprazole and continuing
Meloxicam
(an NSAID), I have damaged my oesophagus and may even have a stomach ulcer. The doctor has put me back on 30mg of Lansoprazole and told me to stop taking my NSAID.

Seeking understanding
My rheumatologist started me on 15 mg
meloxicam
and 400 mg plaquenil daily. It's not helping yet. I feel so alone in this as I know no one who has ra. My kids nor my husband understand my pain or exhaustion.

Always exhausted
Until the summer of last year, I survived - but with a much-changed lifestyle - taking the pain killer
Meloxicam
, Omeprazole to counter its effects, Duloxetine for depression and Amitriptyline to sleep and help with night pains. I take a daily multivitamin.

Gideons Cysts?
I went from taking Humira (every 2 weeks) and 7.5 mg
meloxicam
(NSAID) to doubling the
meloxicam
and adding 25 mg MTX (weekly) and 400 mg 6x/week of hydroxy (plaquenil).

I have been to my general practician, full blood work up, rheumatologist, ob/gyn, and no one knows why I cannot tolerate heat.
They gave me
meloxicam
for my joint pain and gamapentine for the body ache (I do not like the gamapentine) but I have egg-shaped lumps on my inner arms to the side of the crease of my elbows. They ordered a sonogram but no fluid was found. Please help. I am at wits end.

Does anyone have experience of taking NSAIDs with Pred?
It (
Meloxicam
) did really help and but I realise I've been taking it for a couple of years now, while not reducing the Pred much at all (now on 4mg). I'm also on Omeprazole which offers 'gastric protection' because steroids and NSAIDS both can cause gastric bleeding.

Elevated blood pressure....
It's a genetic problem rather than weight or cholesterol as I'm fairly active & eat a sensible diet (OH is an insulin dependent diabetic) I'm on injectable MTX, Sulfa & hydroxy plus
Meloxicam
, I've been on this combination for several months - although only injectable for 6 weeks.

Has anyone tried using diet to put their RA into remission? Any success?
I was able to remove the
Meloxicam
and gradually reduce the MTX to 5mg. I felt amazing until October/November when a combination of stress, lack of sleep and drop off from my regular exercise routine (in my opinion) led to a flare, which I still have.

What were your first symptoms of fibro?/Initial reasoning you saw doc? 99% sure I may have it.
Saw pain mgmt Dr months ago and he gave me tramadol and
meloxicam
, stating rheumatoid arthritis (mind you that when I saw him...it was just for neck head and spine. My symptoms weren't as bad as have been past few months and I didn't even know about fibro, never heard of it at that time).

Bad day - coccyx and thighs - and now a headache!
I'm hoping my GP will give me
meloxicam
- it works well on animals! I have a couple of animals with nasty abscesses. I went to the vet with one as treatment would require four hands! The nearly hairless ones seem much more prone to problems.

Feeling left high and dry to suffer alone...
I had been very lucky so far as my meds [ hydroxy and
meloxicam
] seemed to be working well. I have had previous corticosteroid injections, either in my arm or in my joints but have been ok without those since Feb.

Is anyone on any of these: azathioprine, Arcoxia (etorocoxib), lidocaine plasters?
She said that if I wanted to change from that I could have
meloxicam
(also COX-2, but longer-established). I've been asking for that for ages as it works so well on animals! I just have to remember not to ask for Metacam (the veterinary name!)
