Pediatric Melanoma
Good morning, all :) My son was diagnosed with stage 3b
melanoma
when he was 3 years old. At the time, I thought
melanoma
was strictly an old person's disease. Or a disease that people got from tanning too much. I had no clue that genetics played such a huge role.

I'm New here
I am relatively new to the
melanoma
community. My son was diagnosed 1 year ago with 2-A
melanoma
on his shoulder. I was privileged to attend Hill Day in Washington, D.C. in March and learned so much along with meeting wonderful and strong people and caregivers.

Recent surgeries for Melanoma.
Once again I have been diagnosed with stage II
melanoma
. Seems every few years I have to go through this. Surgeries all went well. Being tethered to this pump inserted in my back makes things difficult, but I am on the mend. Keep up the fight, be your own advocate.

Working during or after a diagnosis...
Like many, I am part of a growing population who has a personal connection to
melanoma
. In 2011 I was diagnosed with stage IIIB
melanoma
and have been "no evidence of disease" (N.E.D.) for six years.

Not sure what to say
Histology wasn't back, but nurse did say there were a couple of queries (my stomach did a flip) she immediately said it wasnt
melanoma
, they just weren't sure if it was (a) not actually skin cancer (b) bcc or (c) scc.

Keep Informed
At age 28, my son lost his battle with
melanoma
. It is imperative that you keep informed and tell you doctor to keep YOU informed of your loved one's medical status and whether or not they are responding to treatment. If you don't ask, they may not tell you.

Treatment and monitoring for children with stage 3 melanoma
I am a mother of a 13 year old boy diagnosed with stage 3 b
melanoma
just over one year ago. I would love to connect with other parents like me to understand treatment and monitoring protocols they are following for their children.

Hello!
I haven't taught in three years since my
melanoma
journey began. I was pregnant with my son at the time and found out I was Stage IV following his birth. I've been NED since November 2015 following the Ipi-Nivo trial. I live in North Dakota but go all the way to Texas to doctor at MD Anderson.

Melanoma as a chronic illness to manage
I've read two articles today in mainstream news that remind me that living with
melanoma
is for my family a chronic illness to manage.
