Martyn Hooper says B12 deficiency CAUSES thyroid problems?
in 2014 about how B12 deficiency actually causes thyroid dysfunction, rather than the deficiency being due to the more commonly assumed
malabsorption
issue caused by thyroid. Was anyone there who can remember what he said exactly?

Can't gain weight getting concerned
Think I have have
malabsorption
, my stools are very yellow and seems like food goes right through me. I live in the US, Am 5'10" and down to 135 lbs. from my normal 150. My doctor put me on a no gluten, no grains diet and when I've tried white rice it makes my tummy hurt.

Intolerance tests
In a last attempt to rule out any other causes for bowel issues, I'm due to have tests done for
malabsorption
and intolerances. These tests jnclude the d-xylose test, the lactose test and a new test called pancreokit (to check enzymes). Does anyone have ezperience of any of these.

Subclinical hypothyroid, B12 deficiency - any connection???
I have explored coeliac and other
malabsorption
issues, but so far they have been a dead end. So I'm wondering, does B12 and thyroid have a connection? If so, what is it? I have had gastric problems for upwards of fifteen years, gallstones and then this, the TN.

Beware the diagnosis, my son!
Low thyroid often goes hand-in-hand with low stomach acid, which causes
malabsorption
, so having no parietal cell antibodies, (which originally led my doc to dismiss my theory that my parietal cells were causing the problem), is pretty much irrelevant and
malabsorption
could very well be the issue.

Gluten free journey
The reason why is if it is a
malabsorption
issue it could easily be other vitamins/minerals that I'm missing and I'm now thinking that I also need to tackle why I'm not absorbing them.

Long-term Consequences of Chronic Proton Pump Inhibitor Use
For the rest of this article, the authors use long-term to designate therapy greater than 14 days, the maximum therapy for the OTC products.[10,11]
Malabsorption
The first potential long-term consequence of chronic PPI use is
malabsorption
of key minerals in the body, namely calcium and magnesium.

body odour changed? - check this out
Oast-House Syndrome Oast-house syndrome also called Smith-Strang diesease is an inherited disease (autosomal recessive) due to
malabsorption
of methionine and secondary
malabsorption
of other amino acids. Part of the unabsorbed methionine is converted by colonic bacteria to a-hydroxybutyric acid.

B12 deficient dog
Usually dogs only become deficient in B12 if vegetarian fed, if the have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, or chronic diarrhoea leading to
malabsorption
. None of this is the case for Seamus my nine year old lurcher. But he is going deaf, and developing cataracts so I am very concerned about him.

Malabsorption and medication
Also I had a Gastric Bypass roughly 10yrs ago, so I have
malabsorption
due to having a small stomach and usually can not absorb enough medication to work. Can anyone offer any words of wisdom please. Don't go back to Dermatology until November - do I just wait?

Daily Mail article on Magnesium
Also acid reducing meds cause
malabsorption
too and I have to take them for my bladder too. I'm 11 years down the line with both and wondering if this is giving me some answers. Also mentioned was adrenal function and magnesium. Well worth a read.

Sorry its been a long time.
I also had a DNA test done called the MTHFR test that proved I had fat
malabsorption
where anything I put in body was not being absorbed and getting to my cells so supplementing with many certain types of natural minerals and enzymes to support my well being.

Does anyone have problems reading ingredient lists to see if High Sucrose Corn Syrup is present in a product?
I did mention it to my GP , when I enquired about having a lactose
malabsorption
test done and he told me that he had never heard of it. Also told me that he did not know if you could be tested for lactose
malabsorption
with a breath test- he even looked it up on google in front of me.
