Weight gain and IBS
my story is long, so I will keep it concise. I have had IBS with urgency since I was a teenager getting progressively worse when I started work. I have tried lots of things none of which resolved things. Currently I take 4 Imodium per day if I have to go anywhere as a precaution, if I try to not take

The 'Brain Energy Gap' and its possible implication on the progress of PD.
Has anyone else seen the work of Professor Stephen Cunnane on the 'brain energy gap' and its implications for PD, Alzheimers and cognitive impairment? I've put a link to one of his talks below, but to summarise: - Cognitive impairment and brain health in PD, Alzheimers, is due in part to an 'brain

Baseline figure from lung function test
After 10 days post hospital admission with pneumonia I went to have a lung function test at my local hospital. The result of the test was 438 a new baseline. My usual top peak flow is 500 (very unused as it doesn't match my height, sex and ethnicity) I should be blowing 420. One explanation was that

IBS symptoms?
Hi, I’m hoping someone can give me some advice on my symptoms. I have had bowel issues for a long time (around 20 years) mainly in the form of gas and bloating and cycles of diarrhoea and constipation. The bloating part was the only bit that really got me down, the rest was manageable, so I decided

IMPROVEMENT!
After nearly two years of waiting, I finally got to see a consultant! He gave me various tests and blood tests and came to the conclusion that it's not my bronchiectasis that's the problem, it's my asthma. I'm now taking a Seretide 250 inhaler and feeling a whole lot better. Although still not brilliant

I have asked my GP to check my conversion of T3 or T3 reverse, but he has not asked for the blood test of the same.... Also U asked for B12, Folate, ferritin and Vitamin D, and also for the antibodies..... What he asked the lab was: 5 April 2023 at 9am without taking any levotyroxine • Test result

Bronchiectasis and unrelated antibiotics
Yesterday I had dental surgery to extract a molar because it was fractured ( could that be due to many many events with prednison???), and now I am on antibiotics amoxicilin. Dentist says 6 days or so. In general my peak flow always increases with antibiotics for other reasons (dental, urinary), but

Does the low carb approach to eating also help the pain of PMR?
This was flagged in my Inbox today - and might account for why some people experience increased pain when they binge on "treats" after being on low carb eating for a while. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/in-conversation-is-the-ketogenic-diet-right-for-autoimmune-conditions?utm_source=Sailthru

Atrial natriuretic peptide
So I went on a bit of an adventure. My last episode, while again still thankfully not as intense as previous episodes, had an interesting twist that I hadn't really noticed before. I had to pee 6 times in the space of an hour. So I went searching on the internet as we do, and I learned about atrial

New to biologics - don't feel particularly well.
Evening all. Hope everyone is managing ok in this cold weather 🥶. So in the last 2 weeks I've had to take rescue doses for my adrenal insufficiency, had 2 emergency hydrocortisone injections (each one administered by work colleagues a week apart) as not caught early enough and generally felt off.

My experience with CKD
I wrote this in a chat and then realized that maybe sharing my experience with everyone, might help someone. So here's my story. I too, have CKD 3A and I also was given the, "ok you have it, see you next time!", from my GP and even from the first nephrologist I went to. It didn't seem right to

Nucala
On Friday I'm due to have my 6th Nucala injection. The first 3 have been amazing. I felt a new person after battling with Eosinophilic Asthma. After my 4th & 5th I have not felt quite so good and now 'doubt' is beginning to creep in. I notice occasional back pain and aching in some joints. My Peak

Subclinical thyroid disease for 5 yrs
My thyroid has caused me few obvious problems in that time, other than varying T3 results. Before Xmas, 2022 I had a radionuclear scan which diagnosed toxic nodular goitre. I returned in January '23 to discuss what Endo want to do. Apparently, my choices are RAI or take Carbimazole. The dose was low,

change in IBS symptoms
Hi I am totally confused and a bit bewildered. So I have had IBS with terrible bouts of diarrhoea for over three years. During which time I definitely had trigger foods which made it a lot worse. Going on a gluten free diet seemed to help slightly as did a fructan free diet. Also low fodmap. But didn
