good platelet count
my husbands platelet count is and has been really good at 277. I have heard elsewhere( not professionally but from an excellent source) that he is unlikely to have cirrhosis with this reading. He was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis earlier this year with many symptoms. He is almost back to being

Officially on the lung transplant waiting list
Last Friday I made the decision to join the lung transplant waiting list after months of tests, conversations with the various medical teams and a whole lot of soul searching. Lung transplant was an option that I have thought about from a very early stage after my diagnosis and when the time came I think

How long for CT Scan results
I had a CT Scan on Monday night and was just wondering how long does it take to get the results back. They were checking my pancreas and all along my abdomen including the right side where I have uncomfort. Also does CT Scan tell you the degree to Liver Fibrosis. I have F3 Fibrosis but have massively

Life insurance
Hi, has anyone been successful in securing or purchasing life insurance in the United States after being diagnosed with CKD and/or kidney transplant? I want to be able leave something behind for my family. I was denied by State Farm. I’m assuming the major insurance companies will exclude pre-existing

Fatty Liver - So worried
I gave up drinking about 3 years ago with some 'blips' along the way where I tried moderation which I absolutely know now does not work. However, the dragging sensation I used to get in my liver area when I used to take a drink has persisted into sobriety. I approached the doctor to look into this in

First appointment at lung transplant centre.
I have my first appointment on Wednesday at the Harefield. Can any of you wise people give me any idea what to expect? I have written down a few questions. We are going Tuesday and stopping in a b and b as the area is completely new to us. ( We live in Oxfordshire) Thank you.

Big decision. Met surgeon today - he wants to do liver resection. Is this recommended or too risky?
I have one isolated 7mm met in my liver. I met a liver specialist today who feels I am an ideal candidate for liver resection rather than ablation as he thinks it could be minimally invasive. I don’t know what to do - is it risky to come off meds? Is resection surgery too risky? It it necessary to do

Worried and advice appreciated
My aunty has been submitted to hospital with Jaundice and pale stalls and very orange urine, yet no pain. Mri has shown no gall stones neither has Endoscopy. It seems like Liver failure but i donn't remember seeing her drink much at all. She is active and certainly not overweight and eats well. The

Advice about generic medication
Hi, just asking some advice about generic cholestyramine Mylan vs Questran. I tried Mylan end of last year and seemed to have lots of bloating tried 2 sachets as opposed to 1 to try to make things better. Things did not seem to improve and I was having to take Gaviscon every night and not sleeping

Alcohol and non alcohol related liver disease
Hi, another question. My consultant said my cirrhosis is due to alcohol. I was a very occasional drinker until recently. I started having a glass of wine with my meal at weekends or when dining with friends. This led to a glass every evening with my meal, then half a bottle each time. Eventually I ended

I cannot stop gaining weight! Help
I am 2 1/2 years post kidney transplant. Before the transplant, I was extremely healthy and fit, ate all the right foods, (nothing processed), worked out daily, was a regular bike rider and hiker, etc. After my transplant, I went through 2 grueling years of rejection treatments which included lots

Hi all, I was finally able to se a liver specialist outside my region. Unfortunately it didn't go well. Hello everyone, I was an alcoholic for over ten years until April 2021 when quit because I was getting abdominal pain and leg jerks at night. After quitting for a few months they went away but then I relapsed five months ago. Since then I have had muscle wasting in my legs, testicular atrophy, weight
