Advice on Meds Before and After Surgery
Hi everyone. After almost 3 years of thyroid ups and downs - I was fluctuating between hyper and hypo almost daily! I am at last starting to feel somewhere near ‘normal’. I am on block and replace of 40mg Carbimazole and 100mcg Levothyroxine (changed from 75mcg 4 weeks ago) daily. I am also on 4000

Bicarbonate of soda eased my ectopics
Hi all I have been writing to members describing a potential relief I have experienced from my lifelong VEB's. Please disregard. It seems that the effects of taking sodium bicarbonate can be severe and include violent diarrhoea and other issues. So I will just keep on with my magnesium tablets and anti-depressants

Physical illness with treatment resistant depression
HI, can I transcribe a loooong rant I posted on "thyroid"? I have not been allowed to call myself depressed or physically ill, as I live in Jersey Channel islands, & the GP's (all private) here have buried me alive along with my medical records. I have never received treatment other than AD's which don't

Suicidal ideation problems
I have a history of depression and anxiety, but my main problem is suicidal thoughts/ suicidal ideation. I get suicidal thoughts that don’t have a reason for being there. So I was started on lithium in the hospital. And it worked for a little while but then all of a sudden I started getting suicidal

Lithium before thyroid ablation
I was diagnosed with graves disease in 2007 then treated successfully with block and replace until 2010 with no side effects from the carbimazole. I was also diagnosed with mild thyroid eye disease but thankfully the symptoms settled well once my thyroid levels were in range. I was in remission for

Ear drops have brought on Tinnitus.
Hi. Had blocked ears so started Sodium bicarbonate drops but since then severe ringing (which makes watching TV difficult) has started I think in one ear. Syringing was unsuccessful yesterday so a further two weeks of the drops has been prescribed before the ringing. I don't use ear plugs but haven't

Librium! What can anyone tell me?
Having just phoned the Drug and Alcohol Support people advised by the Hospital, I was offered a five day detox programme to take at home for the princely cost of £1800. Is this normal? Can I buy the drug myself? And if so what does it cost?

Gluten free and sourdough bread.
When I was first diagnosed with RA, I tweaked my diet significantly and one of the main changes was eating less gluten, which is better for inflammation. I have come up with a really good recipe so thought I would share... You don’t need to knead it (good for sore hands) and it doesn’t use yeast either

I received this in the inbox from deliciously Ella and I think it is helpful whether you are just starting out or not. (Maybe best to use cartons instead of cans though if you have a choice). Thoughts on my latest blood results
Just wondering if anyone would be so kind as to cast an eye over my latest results... a few of my b12 symptoms are coming back despite every other day injections. Very pale skin, tiredness, headaches, tingling arms etc. So I asked my doctor to do a full blood test and he reluctantly agreed, but has marked
