Liothyronine

What difference can you feel between being on thyroxine and being on Liothyronine? My endo has warned me that if I do switch to Liothyronine that my TSH must be kept within the normal range and that I may feel unwell in this case.

In addition to levothyroxine tablets, it also covers levothyroxine oral solutions (liquids), injectable, and all forms of liothyronine. Finally, it has a new Appendix - F: Writing Prescriptions.

She is new to hypothyroidism and her fT4 and fT3 results indicate she is a poor converter, so I really need to ensure she is referred to an endocrinologist who is abreast of the current research on how essential T3 is to well-being, and that some patients need Liothyronine adding to their thyroid meds

Is anyone having difficulty getting Mercury Pharma Liothyronine? The pharmacy I’ve been getting mine from for 8 years are now saying they can’t get them as there is a supplier issue. If they can’t get them what’s the best alternative?

My thyroid is apparently well controlled on dual therapy eltroxin and liothyronine. I'm exhausted all the time and often choke at night for periods.

She wanted NHS bloods to be done in about 6 to 8 weeks time, but [i]with sample taken 2 to 4 hours post dose....

After our conversation, where I explained that it seemed strange to me that when taking Levothyroxine at a certain level, my free T4 came within normal range, but my TSH was still high, he understood my point and prescribed me liothyronine, initially at 10mg per day.

Thanks to everyone who has helped so far, the Endocrinologist has put the Liothyronine up another 10 mcg per day to 30 mcg per day and given me blood test forms for the hospital in 4 to 6 weeks time.

Hi, Has anyone in the group experienced a high ALT from Levothyroxine or liothyronine or from being hypo or hyper.

I was reading the current prescribing information for Armour Thyroid (in the USA) and noticed this issue is actually addressed: [i]Changes in TBg concentration should be taken into consideration in the interpretation of[/i] [i]levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3) values.

They don't know that I take liothyronine as well as levo. I'm not sure whether to fess up or not just as a way to explain the suppressed TSH. My last post was about 3 months ago and greygoose thought that I was possibly experiencing a hyper swing then.

I almost made a dentist appointment, but decided to stop the Liothyronine instead and the pain disappeared after about 36 hours. I had been taking Levo at 119mcg/day and reduced it to approx 106mcg when taking the Lio. I'm now back up to 119mcg.

I am currently taking 50mcg of Levothyroxine and have just been prescribed 20mcg of Liothyronine by a private dr. I just wanted to gather some experiences of other people taking it particular from other women in their early 40s with Hashimoto’s.
