Is anyone having difficulty getting Mercury Pharma Liothyronine?

The pharmacy I’ve been getting mine from for 8 years are now saying they can’t get them as there is a supplier issue.

If they can’t get them what’s the best alternative?

No advice, as such, but my documents list all available UK liothyronine products.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.

hi helvella

I clicked into the link but cannot see where Mercury Pharma is mentioned

Can you tell me if I’m doing something wrong ?

Look for Advanz? Mercury Pharma is just a label used by Advanz.

So Advanz is same as Mercury Pharma?

Yes. The company name is Advanz even if the packet says Mercury.

You can see the petition below refers to Advanz despite the product packaging saying Mercury.

these are t4 medications . I was asking about T3

The answer is the same! :-)

I used the levothyroxine entry because that includes the branded Eltroxin.

Sorry I don’t understand? I thought both those on the screenshot were T4

I think I'm missing something!

The picture I just replied with is for Advanz Pharma (Mercury) Liothyronine.

(The screenshot I first posted was for levothyroxine. Because the Advanz Pharma/Mercury branding issues are exactly the same for levothyroxine as liothyronine. But with levothyroxine there is the additional issue of the branded Eltroxin. I thought I was covering the ground by posting as I did. Obviously, I actually confused. Apologies.)

The photo showed levoxyl and another one

The second screenshot shows Advanz Pharma (Mercury) liothyronine.

Thanks for that. What does it mean though? Is it available ?

helvellaAdministrator in reply toDigger031145

I cannot say how available they are. I posted my document so you could see what other products are potentially available!

It can be worth ringing round pharmacies asking if they can help to get what you actually want!

Hi Digger031145 ,

How did you get on?

Did you get your Mercury Pharma Liothyronine?

I've had issues in the past, which are usually actually down to the wholesalers.

Please let me know if you're sorted, or not?

😀
