Just another day without Grace
Ha--not feeling so syrupy and dramatic today--fooled ya. I shook the pity party hangover blues and learned a good lesson. . .when my 6 year old daughter said "Mommy why are you crying? And why are you sitting on the floor?" I thought "why the heck am I crying???" (I was on the floor for very legitimate

Bach's Rescue Remedy spray seems to help
I have been trying the Bach's rescue spray for several days and I think it helps. I have been experiencing anxiety then depression as my levodopa wears off. Sometimes this is much more disconcerting than the physical symptoms. Occasionally I don't seem to recover the rest of the day. I have tried

Here in the uk the maximum L-DOPA tablets is 8 per day which I am on. I spend more time off than on. I would like 12 tablets . Even ten would make me happy. My question is if i need them which I do . Do I have the right to take more than the maximum dose ? YOURS EXPORT.

Yesterday & Tomorrow
All fellow travelers on this boat called Parkinson's we have written in stone in our memory and soul a date: the day of diagnosis. That day changed everything. There is a before and after in our lives on that day. The person who entered the office of the neurologist only looks like that one who

I wanna new Drug (one that won't make me sick)
You said it Huey; one that won't make me crash my car or make me feel three feet thick. Sounds like Mr. Lewis had some knowledge of Parkinson's drugs. MIRAPEX a nonergot dopamine agonist, was the first drug prescribed for me.Side effects include: extreme drowsiness, falling asleep suddenly, even

A New - Old Drug That Is Making a Major Difference for Me
I have long been convinced that there are nuggets of gold buried in the massive accumulation of 40 years of research that has built up since Ldopa took the stage. Common sense tells me that it is not possible for such a huge amount of data spread over several disciplines to build up without overlooking

The fierce urgency of now
Parkinson's does not stand still. Every single hour of every single day it is quietly gnawing away at our nerve cells. Like mice in the attic, scurrying around, nibbling at cables. Little by little this gradual erosion takes away our future and even our present. But only if we let it. If Parkinson's

CHANGE!
CHANGE! In the past year my Parkinson’s medication, L-dopa, and I have both celebrated our 40th birthdays. In some respects, I suppose that I am lucky that for the last 13 years, I have been able to swallow varying amounts of this drug everyday. It is fantastic. Without it I would not enjoy my life

Do some meds make it worse - Levodopa Worsens Gait in Some Patients
Levodopa Worsens Gait in Some Patients In this weeks Neurology Dr. Espay and Bloem examine a rare PD manifestation when levodopa can actually worsen freezing and gait in a few patients. Over the years one trick I have learned is to ask patients if they are better with walking before their first

Anybody experience pain when making a fist?
Hello everybody. After a few weeks making little comments here and there, I am ready to post a question that is very important to me. First, however, the clinical snapshot; skip if you are sick of reading these accounts. History and treatment: My first unequivical symptom (micrografia) showed

Symptoms Advancing or something else?
My dr. is out until mid Dec. I was dx in July of this year. On my last visit in Oct. she upped my carbidopa-levodopa to 1 1/2 pills 4x/day. I;ve been very faithful in taking them 30 minutes before eating. I have very weak leg muscles even though I'm doing strengthening exercises and walking about
