Head movement associated with Levodopa
My husband has been using Ropinirole for 5 years now but the doctor has reduced this and added Levodopa. I have noticed a big change in his physical movements. His head is moving side to side and he has a tendency of walking with his head cocked to one side. We just finished a 10 day trip with friends

How does thyroid hormone find its way into the brain?
We see lots and lots of thyroid hormone blood test results here. And understandably. The brain is separated from our blood supply by the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This paper talks about an active process of transporters "pumping" thyroid hormones across the BBB - and what fails to work if that process

Neurologist is suggesting stopping Meds
My wife has had PSP since May 2010 and been on Carbidopa and Ropinirole and they helped a bit. We had a visit to the Neurologist this week and he is suggesting she stop as they are probably no longer helping and the regime involves a lot of pills and she hates taking pills. Has anyone else had this

Why do very few doctors prescribe a monotherapy of an MAO-b inhibitor, instead of immediately prescribing levodopa medication?
MAO-b inhibitors are capable of slowing down the progression of Pd. No other type of medication can, to the best of my knowledge, achieve this. As a non-medical person with Pd, I would like to know why this is not the best way to deal with Pd?

Anyone read this ????
This was in the Daily Mail today, but no mention of RLS A drug used to treat Parkinson’s Disease could help older people make better decisions, say researchers. As you get older you begin to lose the ability to learn from experiences, meaning you are less likely to be able to predict the chance

Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms while tapering off of Roprinerol (Requip)?
A previous neurologist had prescribed 24 mg of Requip XL daily. I also take 600 mg of Stalevo and 10 tablets of Carbidopa / Levodopa 25/100 each day. The next neurologist decreased the dosage from 24 mg to 12 mg. My new neurologist, who is a movement disorder specialist, has had me taper off from 12
