Home made carbidopa-levodopa syrup

I had a hour long session with my MDS Neuro yesterday. The bulk of the time was discussing dbs. He did mention a technique of grinding up the c-l dopa and mixing with water making a syrup to be sipped through the day.... the idea is to smooth out the on off dyskinesias. Anybody try this?

Interesting. I found that when I split my c-l dopa tabs in half that I had hallucinations- pretty scary! Tony

I split mine in half daily.

I tried the drink, but some days I didn't finish it and other days I finished it in no time flat.

Good idea, if it works for you.

I chew them put them in coke, I have even tried snorting them to get relief when off. In my opinion the best, quickest way to get the relief is to make a drink, or chew them and wash dwn w/coke a cola.lol

Our neuro recommends the same technique.

I do the same with ginger beer or carbonated water. If you try the liquid way you need to add vitamin c, some people do this by dissolving sinemet in a a dilutable orange drink that already has vitamin c in it.

I chew mine they seem to work faster that way however after chew I do use something to swallow/ wash off my teeth the dentist said it is bad for the teeth to constantly chew pills meant to be swallowed. I also use CR levadopa that works for 8 hrs along with regulars which tend to work 90 min per pill.

In a pinch I let the sinemet melt under tongue & take a cough drop or chew gum if I forgot snack. Doesn't work with sinimet CR. Good luck!
